this fic takes place when the godfather and godmother were still young (26?) and they weren't a godfather/godmother. In this story, gf is a consigliere and gm is a consort >:3c

Lucian and Venecia were lying on the soft grass, they were gazing at the dark sky and the stars that spread out beyond. The breeze is cool, but not freezing. The two felt calm. For the first time, they weren't at each other's necks like usual.

Lucian breathed out a sigh, making Venecia turn to look at him, "Something wrong?"

Lucian laughed a little, still looking up at the sky. "No, I'm just. Relaxed right now."

Venecia looked at him for a moment longer and chuckled, "It's weird seeing your brows so relaxed. Usually, they're almost a unibrow."

Lucian shot her a look, but his smile not faltered, "Stuff it, Venice. I can say the same for you."

Venecia laughed, turned to her side, and rested her head on her hand. "You should relax a little, you'll get more wrinkles than you already have if your face is so serious all the time."

"You're older than me! And besides, all that makeup won't hide the fact that your age is starting to show." Lucian snapped back.

Venecia huffed, "Hmph! At least I try to hide those, unlike you."Lucian crossed his arms, "Whatever, I don't want you ruining this peace I have right now by replying to that."

"Loser..." Venecia almost whispered.

The two sat in silence once more as Venecia shifted so she was lying on her stomach, picking at the small flowers on the earth with a soft smile. Lucian couldn't help but look at her. Despite what he said to her earlier, he couldn't deny her beauty. Under all that foundation was a gorgeous face. Of course, he would never say this out loud, but that thought will be put in the deepest and darkest crevices of his mind where no one will see. He would rather DIE than admit that he held a bit of an attraction towards Venecia.

"Whatcha lookin' at?" Venecia looked smug.

Lucian was taken by surprise. How long had he zoned out?? To hide his embarrassment, he gave a weak reply. "Th-There was a bug on your hair... It's ok now, though. It's gone, it hopped away, or something."

Venecia didn't look convinced but decided to let it go. She got up and walked away to a bed of red roses and knelt to pick one. Lucian sat up in confusion, wondering what on earth she was going to do. She went back and sat down next to him. She tore off the stem of the rose until it left only a short stem and placed the rose in his breast pocket.

"Thought your bland-ass suit needed some color," Venecia said with a small smile, a blush creeping up her cheeks.

Lucian knew that was an insult but he couldn't help but blush a bit, the small sentiment of receiving a flower, a flower which symbolized LOVE and PASSION, gave him butterflies.

"Right, thanks." Lucian tried to sound sarcastic but instead sounded meek.

It was quiet again, and the tension was rising between the two of them. Venecia licked her lips and looked deep into his eyes like she wanted something from him. Lucian felt it too but was hesitant to make a move.

Venecia held his shoulder and parted her lips to speak, "I-

BEEP BEEPBEEP BEEP

They both jumped at the noise and fumbled in their pockets to reach for the radio. Lucian inwardly cursed as he listened to the Godfather give orders he wasn't paying attention to. What was Venecia about to say? Oh my god, what the hell. As the radio cut, the two looked at each other rather awkwardly. Venecia stood up, "Well, I'm off now I guess? Uh, the Godfather needs me for something soon."

Lucian nodded, "Yeah, yeah. Uh, me too. I'll just go now."

"Yup, um, see you."

"You too."

They both walked away in different directions despite having to go to the same place, the Mafia hideout. Who could walk together after that horrible awkward situation anyway? Lucian certainly wouldn't. He doubts Venecia would either. He didn't think she would ever look at him again. They wouldn't even fight anymore, because any time they see each other's faces they would only be reminded of that moment.

God, fucking dammit.
