Nandini’s POV
5 Years LaterIt’s been five years since that incident, yet it still feels fresh. The person I loved gave me the deepest wound of my life.
I lost everything that day—my mother! She couldn’t bear the shock and died on the spot. I gave up on my studies. I stopped going out after that day. Navya helped me with food, and Mehmat uncle helped with clothes, as his wife is a tailor.
I took back the complaint a month later, only for Mehmat uncle. He asked Navya’s brother to call him out, and he left for England. He’s married now… has a son too.
Navya’s brother Harshad is still ready to marry me, but I can’t! I know Navya convinced him, but I can’t let that happen.
“Nandini!” I turned around as she called me. I smiled.
“Ready?” she asked, and I nodded.Yeah… after five years, I’ve decided to face the world. I got a job at a restaurant—as a servant. My job is simple: take orders and serve them.
Our village has changed a lot. Some rich people bought this village, and now every facility is available—from hospitals to a five-star hotel. I don’t know who that person is, but I’ve heard they’re very rich and popular.
I stepped out of the house, taking a deep breath.
“Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” she said, and I smiled.
“I know, because you are by my side.”
She smiled back. “I’m always here.”I left for work. Navya works in an office as a manager. She continued her studies because I forced her to. Sometimes I wonder… what did I do to deserve her?
The work is fine—I’m actually enjoying it. But I don’t talk to anyone openly. I don’t want new friends. Navya is enough.
“Hey sir, can I take your order?” I asked. He nodded.
“Please bring a plate of Russian salad for me. And what will you eat?” he asked the woman in front of him.
“Uhm… a grilled chicken steak will be fine for me, along with a cold drink.”
“Sure, ma’am.”
Like that, the day passed. It was time to head home. On the way, I saw a kid sitting alone, holding a toy. I walked up to him.
“Why are you sitting here alone?” I asked.
“I’m lost.”
“What? You’re lost? I mean… where and how?”
“I came here with my dad, but I let go of his hand and ran off. Now I don’t know where he is.”
“You don’t know your house location?”
“I do… but it’s far from here.”
“Okay, tell me the location of your house. I’ll take you there.”
“I don’t know much. I just know my house number is 4 and my street name is XYZ.”
“Alright, come with me.”
I took him to the police station, and after an hour, he finally found his location. He called his dad, and he came.
After a series of thank-yous, I left. I passed by the same street… I stopped as that haunted nightmare echoed in my mind. That house is no longer there—it’s turned into a grocery store.
I walked away.
The Next Day:
I was passing by a street when I witnessed the same incident that happened five years ago.
I had nothing to do with this.
I ignored it.
Wow, Nandini. Wow. I can’t believe you’re ignoring this. Are you serious? How can you be so mean? That day, you helped Uncle Mehmat. Why? Because he was Arnav’s dad? You wanted to look good in his eyes? Shame on you, girl.
I took a deep breath and walked toward them.
I pushed the man away!
“Leave him!” I shouted.
“Stay away from this!” he shouted back.
He wasn’t wearing any mask.
“No! I won’t stay away from this. Leave him!”
“Who are you?”
“It doesn’t matter. Just leave him.”
“Sir, let us handle her,” one of his guards said.
“No, it’s fine,” he said and let the guy go. The guy ran.
“Manik, why did you let him go?” one of the boys asked, but he didn’t reply.
He was looking at me—no, staring at me. I rolled my eyes and left.
Manik’s POV
I don’t know what just happened. She ordered me to leave that bastard, and I did.
“Manik, why did you let him go?” Cabir asked, but I didn’t reply. She left!
“Beautiful.” That was the only word that came out of my mouth.
“Manik!” He shook me, and I looked at him. “I’m talking to you?”
“We’ll catch him later,” I said. And we left—not before I turned back for one last glance at her.
The whole day, I kept thinking about her. No doubt she’s beautiful. But what has she done to me? I can’t stop myself from thinking about her.
Goddd!
Why is she so… attracting?
“Manik, we still haven’t found him,” Cabir said.
“It’s okay. We will.”
“Are you even listening to me? What’s wrong with you? Why are you behaving like this?”
“I don’t know, man. She’s done some magic on me, I’m telling you.”
“Oh come on, man. That girl? She’s not your type. She lives in that village.”
“So? As if I care about her status.”
“Manik, come back to your senses. If Abhimanyu finds out, he’ll kill you.”
“He won’t. He knows the feeling of love.”
“Oh, please! You met her for a minute and you’ve fallen in love? Abhi will definitely kill us.”
“He won’t. He’s my brother. He understands me. Now shut the fuck up and leave me alone.”
“I do.”
I turned around at the sound of Abhi’s voice. He’s my brother. After Dad, he took over the lead seat of the mafia. But when he got married—and his wife Mukti didn’t like him in that world—he handed the seat and the state over to me.
“I think I’m in love.”
“Oh really? And who’s the girl?”
“I don’t know… but I’ll find out.”
“I’m sure you will. But you have to promise me that you’ll concentrate on your work too.”
“I promise, Abhi. You know me well.”
“Yeah, yeah. Now go to sleep. Tomorrow, I need that bastard dead,” he ordered.
I saluted playfully, placing my hand on my head.
“Yes, Boss.”He chuckled and left.
“I’ll meet you tomorrow… Miss Beautiful.”
