Tapes (Chapter 2)

Your POV

Cringing while running my thumb across the dusty TV top, I notice a tape on the floor. I rub my thumb and middle finger together to get rid of the dust and bend over to pick up the vintage-looking tape that is titled, 'In the Kitchen.'

"Hmm.." I say out loud with a mix of confusion and uncertainty. It seems as if the gods above are trying to warn me, because as soon as I make that noise, it starts to pour down rain despite it being bright and warm outside. I don't like my situation; I genuinely don't have any clue on what to do. I'm curious, but I'm not too keen on doing anything in this attic without the permission of my parents.

I then make my decision and gently place the tape down on the top of the TV. Slowly backing up, I give the attic one last glance before I crawl down the ladder and close the trapdoor.

I fall face first onto my fluffy, queen sized bed and groan loudly. I grab the LED controller and turn it on pink. With a heave, I reposition myself upright on my bed. I have nothing to do, therefore I am bored. What do I do when I'm bored? I eat.

Pushing open my creaky door and jogging down the worn down stairs, I question what food my pantry has for me. Snack food was always found somewhere at our house, hence why my friends loved to come over and binge watch cartoons with me.

I reach the bottom of the stairs and walk into the kitchen. I look out the front window that has a white lacey curtain and scan the yard. Nobody is outside, the rain looks like hail and the clouds are dark. It would really set the tone for a horror game. Where did my family go?

I turn around fully to face the basement. The door is ajar and the light is on, but very dim. I creep closer and push the door open completely. I take a few steps down the stairs, and start to hear faint voices. I creep down the steps and look around the corner.
