Now playing: Can't Run Away - Brave Little Abacus
(---)
Kyou sat cross-legged on the floor of his room, his bass guitar resting comfortably on his lap. The room was filled with the soothing hum of an amplifier as his fingers danced across the strings, producing a low, resonating sound. He closed his eyes, completely absorbed in the rhythm and melody that emanated from his instrument.
The familiar vibrations of the bass reverberated through Kyou's fingertips, connecting him to a world beyond the confines of his room. The strings quivered beneath his touch, responding to the gentle pressure he applied. It was in these moments of musical nirvana that Kyou felt truly alive, his worries and insecurities dissipating with each strum.
He had been trying to write something, which he wasn't too great at by himself as he'd only previous written music in a group. Kyou was struggling with trying to come up with a soft bass line that he'd be able to build the rest of a song with eventually.
"I'm gonna stab my eyes out, why is this so hard!?" He asked himself, facepalming out of annoyance, "I should pay more attention in music class more..."
He glanced around his room, eyeing the posters of his favorite bands adorning the walls. They stared back at him, mocking his feeble attempts at songwriting. His lyrics flowed effortlessly, but when it came to composing the music, he hit a wall.
Kyou let out a frustrated groan as he strummed the bass strings with a bit more force than necessary. The notes sounded discordant, a jumbled mess that only added to his irritation.
He took a quick glance over at the scattered sheet music on his desk, filled with scribbles and crossed-out sections. It was a testament to his struggle in trying to find the right melody, the right progression. The more he tried to force it, the more elusive it became. The frustration welled up inside him, fueling his self-doubt.
"I should just go to bed early..." Kyou mumbled to himself as he picked himself off the floor. Unfortunately for him, his sister barged into his room.
"KYOU!!!" Kaori shouted out, causing him to almost drop the instrument in his hands out of shock, "Come with us!!!"
He turned around to look at his sister with a bit of a suspicious look on his face.
"Why...?"
"Kuni and I are gonna go see a few live bands at this new area that opened up not too long ago!" she told him, a big smile plastered across her face, "We wanted you to come!"
"Y'know I'm feeling a bit tired, so I might just stay home..." Kyou responded, yawning a little.
"No." Kuniko was stood at the doorway behind her twin sister, "We're not letting you sit here and mope about those losers that dumped you."
"I'm over it!" Kyou told her, "I don't really care about those guys anymore."
"Then what have you been moping about for the past hour."
"My capabilities to write music..."
"Because you don't have a whole group to assist you with it anymore? Sounds like you have been moping about it."
"No! I never said that what the hell!"
"Maybe you'll get some ideas from the bands we'll see tonight." Kaori chimed in, causing Kuniko to shrug.
Kyou thought about it for a moment longer before giving in.
"Fine..." He groaned, "Now get out while I get dressed, I'll be downstairs in a few minutes."
