It had been one month since Jenn had passed away and you were doing a lot better. You would get emotional from time to time, but you knew that Jamie could cheer you up, so you would talk to him about what you were feeling and he would pull you right back to the right place.
As you drained the dish water from the sink, your phone started to go off from the counter. You looked over to see that Jamie was FaceTiming you. He was currently in Canada filming for a movie, but you decided to stay at home in LA. You already had your private getaway booked for when he got back from filming and you couldn't wait to go.
"Hey, love," Jamie said the moment he saw your face.
"Hey, baby. How's Canada?" you asked as you propped the phone up against the wall so you didn't have to hold your phone.
"It's going great, darling. How are you today? Are you doing okay?" he asked as he looked at the screen through his black framed glasses.
"Yeah, I'm doing okay. Just cleaning the house. I am going to go to the store in a little bit to do some grocery shopping. It's a nice day here, so I don't want to stay in the house all day," you said as you glanced over at the sunlight coming through the window. "Might even go for a walk at some point," you added with a smile. "How are you doing? How's the weather there?"
"I'm glad you're doing okay. It's raining here right now, but we're filming inside a set," he said and then you watched as his phone took a tumble to the floor.
You laughed as soon as you heard his iconic laugh while he picked the phone back up.
"Sorry, love. My phone fell," he said as he laughed a little more.
"You better be careful," you said with a slight chuckle. "You have a movie to film."
"I can't wait to see you in a couple days. I miss you."
"I miss you, too. Just two more days and then we will be back together," you replied with a smile as he smiled back at you.
"Alright, love. They are calling me back to set. I will call you later, okay? I love you so much."
"I love you, too, Jamie. Knock 'em dead."
You ended the FaceTime and continued back to what you were doing.
Once the house was cleaned up, you decided to head to the store to do some grocery shopping. As you walked down the aisle and looked at the different cereals, you heard a familiar voice that you never thought you would hear again.
"Hi, there, Y/N," you heard Jason's voice say.
You looked over and you felt your heart drop down into your stomach. He should have been in jail. What was he doing there? Why did they let him out?
"You look shocked to see me," he said with a sly smirk on his face.
"Wh-What are you doing here?" you asked as your heart started to pound in your chest.
"Oh, you know. Keeping tabs on rats. I mean, you were the one that ratted me out, right?" he inquired and you swallowed the lump that had formed in your throat.
"Jason, there are cameras inside the café. We had the security footage of you, of the shooting," you said to him. "I didn't rat you out."
"You know Jenn hated you, right?" he lied as he tried to get to you. "She couldn't stand you. She was jealous of you and your marriage," he added as he stepped towards you. "All she did was talk shit about you behind your back."
You swallowed hard again as you looked at him.
"You're lying," you quietly said as tears started to come to your eyes. "She would never talk bad about me."
