Joe chuckled and stepped aside, gesturing for Miya to come in. Miya stepped inside and immediately felt a sense of warmth and comfort. Cherry was in the kitchen, preparing some snacks and drinks for everyone.
"Hey there, Miya!" Cherry greeted him with a smile.
"Hey Cherry," Miya replied, trying to sound casual.
Cherry noticed the bruising on Miya's face and his smile faded for a moment, but he quickly composed herself.
"Come on, sit down and have some snacks," Cherry said, gesturing to the living room.
Miya sat down on the couch, feeling a little nervous. He wasn't used to being in such a warm and friendly environment. Joe sat down next to him, and they chatted about random things while Cherry brought in the snacks and drinks.
As they ate and talked, Miya began to relax and let his guard down. He felt like he could be himself around Cherry and Joe. They didn't judge him or make him feel like an outcast.
After a while, Joe suggested they go for a walk around the neighborhood. Miya was hesitant at first, but then he realized that he was having a good time and didn't want it to end.
As they walked and talked, Miya felt like he was starting to open up to them more than he was before. He told them about his struggles with his parents and how he didn't feel like he fit in at school. Cherry and Joe listened intently, offering words of encouragement and support.
By the time they got back to the house, Miya felt like his friends were better than he had thought initially and couldn't be more glad for having them in his life. He didn't want to leave, but he knew he had to go home eventually.
"Thanks for having me over," Miya said, smiling at Cherry and Joe.
"Anytime, Miya," Cherry replied, giving him a hug.
As he skated back home, Miya couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. Maybe things weren't so bad after all. Maybe he had found some people who understood him and cared about him.
