Dani arrived in her flat feeling confused and anxious. She thought about everything and nothing all at once. She was confused yet somehow happy. She was anxious yet excited. Should she text Jamie? Should she wait for a few hours or days? Should she not text her at all?
After going back and forth for what felt like hours Dani decided she was going to text Jamie. Her hands were shaking as she picked up her phone, a feeling Dani had never felt before.
"Heyy :)" Dani anxiously pressed on the send button.
After only 5 minutes her phone lit up, Dani's heart was racing as she picked up the phone.
"Hey, how are you?" Jamie replied.
Dani couldn't breathe, she was confused and happy, so happy.
"Pretty good, and you?"
"Not bad myself, what are you up to?"
Dani looked at the clock on her bedside table; 7:19 pm.
"Just wanted to watch some Law & Order and relax a bit. You?" Her fingers were still shaking as she typed.
"Funnily enough, I wanted to watch some Law & Order. :)"
Dani smiled at her phone before stopping herself and being even more confused. Suddenly her phone lit up again.
"What are your weekend plans?" Jamie texted.
Dani was unsure what to answer her, she didn't have any plans, but she didn't want to say that. She wanted to seem interesting and mysterious, even though she didn't think she was either of those things.
"Not much, staying home and laying in bed with my cat. Yours? =)"
"Well, I wanted to ask a cute girl if she would want to go on a date with me, but apparently she already has plans with her cat. ;)"
Dani looked at her phone, suddenly she forgot how to speak, think, and breathe all at once. What does she mean? Dani knew exactly what she meant. What should she reply? Dani knew exactly what she wanted to reply.
Dani felt something in that moment, something she hadn't felt in months, years even; the heat in her stomach rising up. She hadn't even thought about Jamie as a romantic interest. She just thought she was extremely stunning, and her presence was glamorous, and she wanted to be around that woman for way longer than she wanted to admit to herself. So basically, she did think of her as a romantic interest, right? Is this what romance is supposed to feel like? Dani wasn't sure because she'd never felt like this before.
"I think that can be arranged. ;)" The breath Dani tried to take was stuck in her throat.
"How about dinner tomorrow at 7 pm. I can pick you up. :)"
How can Jamie manage to be so intuitive yet so mysterious.
"Sounds great. :)" Dani finally managed to reply.
