It was only 6:17 pm but Dani was already completely dressed and ready to go out. She put on her favorite red dress with some subtle make-up. Dani was standing in front of her mirror and looked at her shaking hands. She went to bed shortly after she gave her address to Jamie and wishing her a good night. Jamie answered with a simple "Sweet dreams, love" that made Dani melt right on the spot.

At 6:43 pm her phone vibrated. She picked it up.

"I'll be there in 10 ;)" Jamie texted.

The heat in Dani's stomach was rising more than she could've ever imagined. But she was also feeling anxious and scared. What if Jamie thought she was boring? What if Jamie thought she wasn't pretty?

Dani's thoughts were interrupted by the thought of being late to her date. She went outside at 6:49 pm and tried to calm her nerves by pinching her skin with her nails.

"Hi there." A familiar voice suddenly rang out. Dani turned around to see Jamie standing in front of her. Her beautiful hair seemed so flawless. She was wearing black jeans and a beautiful red blouse.

"Hey." Dani said nervously. "Ready to go?" Jamie said with a grin. "Yeah, sure." Dani said while a smile was forming on her face. "You look beautiful, Dani." Dani could feel her heart starting to beat faster. The heat was now almost unbearable. "Well, thank you. You too." Dani managed to say.

Suddenly it was 9 pm and the women were walking back towards Dani's apartment. Dani thought for a second, then blurted out "Do you wanna come in for some drinks?". Jamie seemed pleasantly surprised, "Sure." she said with a smile.

"I don't know what you like, I have red and white wine or something non-alcoholic if you'd like." Dani said, standing behind the kitchen island. "I'll have whatever you like best." Jamie said with a smirk. "Well then you're going to have to drink some Chardonnay it seems." Dani said, also smiling. "Sounds great." Jamie said.

At 10 pm the women were smiling at each other both with their empty wine glasses in their hands. Dani was rambling about how bad she wanted to work as a teacher and work with kids, Jamie listened carefully "I think you'd be great with kids; you definitely should try to do that." Dani felt so safe in Jamie's company, she felt like someone finally listened to what she had to say. She felt like Jamie was genuinely interested in everything she said. Dani never felt like that before.

There was a silence in the room and Jamie looked Dani right in her eyes. "You know, I'm really glad you said yes to this." Jamie said. "Me too." Dani answered with a smirk. She could feel the tension in the room rise as Jamie leaned in to kiss her.

After a few seconds Jamie pulled away "Is this okay for you?" she asked. No one had ever asked Dani if it was okay to kiss her. Most guys just did when it felt right for them. Those few seconds kissing Jamie felt like what Dani had been searching for her whole life. She felt so relieved, so protected.

"More than okay." Dani finally said. Jamie leaned back into her, elegantly and, at the same time, very effectively.
