Chapter 7 - With Him

"Wala ka bang gagawin ngayon?" Ofius stayed in the apartment, he was working on his laptop to finish his rendering of plate while across the table was Chase, working on some new inspiration to start a story.

They were both fixed on their work but it was enough for Ofius since he really can't work alone. Chase chose to work with him since he couldn't just leave a visitor alone while he's on his room.

"Wala rin, natapos na rin yung libro ko." Chase answered.

Ofius smiled and looked at him, "Gusto mo bang lumabas?"

Chase returned the look and Ofius immediately added, "I mean kung may urge ka lumabas o ano..."

Chase knew what he was trying to convey and closed his laptop, "Opening mamaya ng Town Festival, 'di rin masama makalabas."

"Talaga?!" Ofius suddenly stood that made Chase flinched in surprise.

"Ay sorry." He apologized for his sudden behavior.

"Marami ng naka set-up na stalls and stores sa boulevard, meron na ring stage sa Park para sa battle of the bands, gusto mo bang bumisita?" Ofius added the hype in fear na baka mawala gana ni Chase.

But Chase was strangely comfortable around this young man, he noticed that Ofius was just being him, friendly and all. Chase just reached 30 this year and he almost forgot how to make the most of his time since he wanted to finish several manuscript so the good ones can produce stable income. And he never had real friends for a while, except for Kaye.

It seems like when a person had a natural air of liveliness, it could be contagious to those people surrounding him. And also the thing that made Chase comfortable in his presence was the fact that this young man was considering his feelings if he was being too loud or being too talkative. Even waiting for the right timing to ask something that made Chase be amused.

"Should we go around 4?" Ofius asked looking at his watch. 

"Sure, we still have one hour left." Chase nodded.

Ofius then refocused but this time, the curve on his lips wouldn't just fade. He was too hype up this time!

When 4 pm arrived, Ofius rode his car towards the bustling boulevard together with Chase and they couldn't longer go past the main street since it's blocked. May parade kasi at ang dagsa ng tao ay mismong pinuno na ang daan.

"Ganito ba 'to lagi?" Chase couldn't help but to be in awe, sobrang raming tao at ang decorations sa daan ay 'di pangkaraniwan, may mga lumilipad rin na shaped balloons at mga lights sa paligid-ligid.

As Ofius tried to park the car he couldn't help but to smile, "Taon-taon 'to ginaganap, hindi ka ba ni-isa, sa tatlong taon lumabas?"

Chase was a bit embarrassed from this question but with a straight forward face, he nodded, "Hindi."

Ofius doesn't whether to laugh or cry. "Then it is my pleasure na e-tour ka."

Ofius safely parked his car on the side and he invited Chase in the pool of people in the main street since there are several game booths and stalls that they could have fun with. They started with the arts and crafts section na sa gilid lang ng daan ang booths and galleries along with the other section na may stalls para sa pagkain then souvenirs shops and many more.

This City was the prosperous one second to the Main Capital of the Country and every year, the mayor won't miss the chance to have the people reminisce culture and enjoy the traditional celebration.

Chase was also overwhelmed but despite the sudden change of environment, he found himself enjoying the place and atmosphere. It has been a long while since he got out, it has been a long while since he breathed.
