Chapter 1: Getting Ready

I'm walking down the road. On the Boulevard of Broken dreams.

I woke up listening to 'Blvd. of Broken Dreams' by Green Day. Ughh. I groan as I stood up from my bed. I removed my earphones and used the speaker instead. I turned the volumes up before I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth.
"Kate!" Mom shouted knocking on my door. "Breakfast is ready! And PLEASE turn down the volume!"
I turned off the music and took my phone and earphones from my bed. I went to the kitchen and started eating breakfast. "Morning mom."
"Morning hon." Mom patted my head and pinched my cheeks. "Please stop listening to those kinda music early in the morning. And get ready we're going shopping. You have school tomorrow."

Mom and I are going to the mall when suddenly...
"Katie! What are you doing here?!" Mikey, my childhood friend, shouted seeing me wear all black again.
"Well, can't you see I'm with my mom?"
"Oh, Michael darling! What are the odds! We're shopping for her school tomorrow." Mom glanced at me and 'tsked' "I am so sorry for my daughter, Michael. I mean look at her clothes! She looks like a man."
I 'tsked'. What's wrong with wearing long black sweater and black skinny jeans with all black chucks?
"It's okay, Aunty. I think it's cute." Mikey looked at me and smiled. "I think it's better than wearing fit shirts, short-shorts and high heels."
"I know right!" I hit him while saying that. I glanced at mom and shes just smiling. "By the way, Michael? What are you doing here?"
"Same as you. Buying notebooks and stuffs."
"See you inside then." I said grabbing mom's hand and pulling her to go now. She ships me with Mikey. But he's my best friend I don't want to ruin what we're having now.
"Don't you want your friend to join us shopping, Kate?"
"I don't want to mom. When you're with us."
"Oooookay! Okay!"

We bought what I needed and we didn't bump into Mikey inside the mall. We got home late. Dad and Mom went out for work. They own a bar nearby our neighborhood. Michael and I used to hang out there drinking chocolate milk. Playing and acting bartenders. How I miss the old times.

I went to my room and changed for my pjs. Because I'm alone right now, I started playing Paramore's song, Future. I sat down near my window and looking, staring at the moon. The stars. How lovely they look at night.
Suddenly, I saw a black and white sock flying. Soaring like a shooting star.

I thought it was my imagination when I saw a sock flying through the sky. I looked down and I saw Mikey throwing socks.

"Michael what the hell are you doing throwing socks?"
"Well, duhh! If I use rocks that would cost me a lot of money if I broke your window right?"
I sighed. Gosh. This idiot. This playful idiot.
"I'm here 'cuz I wanna watch Game pf Thrones with you! I know you're alone right now. Your parents told me."
Seriously!? Geez, my mom.
"Sorry but I'd love to be alone right now."
"Come on, Kate! Let me in! I know your playing music so loud right now!"

I ignored him and went straight to bed. Surfing the internet and tweeting. I fell asleep.

A few minutes later. I'm half asleep. I felt the bed moving, like someone is laying beside me. I opened my eyes.
"Mom?"
"Haha! Do I look like your mom?" I can't see it's face clearly "Good night, love. See you at school tomorrow." I felt it's lips kiss me on my forehead.

I smiled. Thinking it was just a dream. And went back to sleep.
