Namjoon couldn't believe his eyes, there was Taehyung, a dark silhouette against the moon, dark wings unfurled against the heaven like an angel falling from sin. His wings were nearly the entire width of his body, quivering and radiating blue flames as he hovered above the trees. He was staring at him, watching Namjoon from within his cage, seeming to contemplate his next move as he turned from his locked form towards the other parts of the property. At least now Namjoon knew why he couldn't pick up a scent from the other man. He was a phoenix, and they had no scent. A male phoenix was rare, their species primarily consisting of females, but they were the deadliest; a force to be reckoned with once hatched. They were faster, stronger, stealthier, and almost nothing could kill them because of the strength of their flames and healing properties from their blood and feathers. Hybrids such as he and phoenix's were similar in that regard, both of their bloods were worth a countries weight in gold because they could cure any illness, any wound if treated quickly enough. Then why did his Master want Namjoon to kill him? Taehyung was easily worth more then himself. While Namjoon can control his transformative abilities to a degree and could easily be dubbed the deadliest of creatures alive, he still had a chance of rejecting the change. Any time he transformed it could possibly be his last. With a creature like Taehyung on his side his Master would have a guaranteed trump card up his sleeve no matter what. There would be no risk to his investment unlike the one he had with Namjoon. Then why did he order the hybrid to drain him... Did he not know what Taehyung was?

Taehyung must have seen what he was looking for, or lack of what he was looking for, because he quickly swooped down and landed in front of Namjoon's cage. His wings tucked securely deep into the pouch within his back - a place all phoenix had that lied along their shoulder blades - and watched him. The hybrid still did not know how to feel around the other. This would now be their third time meeting, and neither of the other two times they had met made any sense to him. The first time they had met Namjoon had been ordered to kill him, to drain him of his blood and devour his flesh as his next meal. Yet, he couldn't do. He had been unable to kill the man, and no matter how handsome he thought the other was he still had every intention of following those very orders. His sister's life was always at stake. So when he couldn't do it, he had been left confused. Then, on their second meeting - this one far more secret then the first time - Taehyung had confused him even more. The phoenix had tried to kill him, or at least make himself look like he wanted to in some kind of test, and even then Namjoon could have done something but he didn't. Which brought them to now. If the phoenix really wanted him dead the hybrid didn't feel he could put up much of a fight with his back torn and bruised as it was. He supposes that if he really needed to he could put up some sort of fight, but... given the events of the other times they had met he doubted he would be able to even if he had the ability to. Then there was the fact that Taehyung turned out to be a phoenix so Namjoon's chances were royally slim to none if the other decided to stop whatever game he was playing with him.

Staying on his stomach, Namjoon kept his head turned towards the side so that he could look the other in the eyes, the phoenix silent but watching. Taehyung's eyes drifted towards his back and Namjoon wondered if he had heard about what had happened today. Wondered if his sister had gone back to her boyfriend and their friend and decided to stay with them, to carry out whatever plan she had come up with to somehow set Namjoon free. As if he would ever truly be free. He was a monster. A creature that would be hunted for the rest of his days because of the very fact that he was born. Kyungmin could at least pass as a human, their kind didn't carry a scent as well, and live out her days happy and without any burdens. Namjoon couldn't.

He shouldered to many sins, and the blood of not only criminals but innocents stained his hands. Namjoon knew that he would never truly be free. That he would never be forgiven. That he was a curse that God had burned into the world. Maybe he was serving out a punishment already, maybe this was divine retribution for all the pain he has caused...
