The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.-Ferdinand Foch

I walked to the bonfire in the center of camp with my bags packed, I was ready to get to work. I looked up to the gatekeeper Elduin Stagrunner. Red, perfectly groomed hair slightly reveals a fine, lively face. Heavy golden eyes, set sunken within their sockets. A gunshot left a mark reaching from just under the left eye , first running towards his fairly big lips and ending on his right nostril leaves a burning memory of fear.

"Asmodeus riddle travel," He sounded hate filled, Asmodeus was once a member of the legion...for a price you can cross through his dimension of fire to get wherever you need. "Still don't know why we trust him. Safe travels Cazador." Elduin tossed a Ducat into the blaze muttering a spell as it shifted to a bright flowing green "Hunters luck with you son." I nodded staring into the blaze. I removed my mask and hood putting my mask in one of my many bags.

I advanced forward through the vivid portal resembling a campfire, my hair and skin melted as I sank deep into the ground. I was immediately met by a captivating world. Thick, dark clouds block out any light from above and cover the lands in gloomy shadows. The sound of thick bubbles escaping some form of mud or viscous liquid can be heard all around me. Several multicolored bonfires also surrounded me. Because of these horrible conditions I couldn't help but feel danger lurks around every corner. This world is indubitably threatening, but looks can be deceiving at times.

In the far-off distance I caught a glimpse of countless colors on the most bizarre looking creatures. They keep an eye on me in a predatory manner, I realize it's best not to get too close. I can see muscular creatures, tiny creatures, and what you think might be small creatures of some sort. "Never gets old." I spoke as I began my quest, I quickly found the ever burning forest as of witch my location was located.

The forest was large, thick, and prospering. Its canopy was monopolized by sequoia, maple, and juniper, enough light shimmered through their crowns for a flood of plants to rule the soft, rich soils below. Swooping tree limbs embraced the occasional tree, and a potpourri of flowers, which were unique to this region, brightened up the otherwise dark green lower level.A discord of wild sounds, most belonged to prowling animals, filled the air, and almost completely muffled the occasional splashes of frogs jumping in the nearby lake.

It was a sharp contrast to the dark lands before, but even so the forest was covered in multicolored bonfires. "Should be up here...if I'm not mistaken." I muttered aloud as I passed a large tree. I grinned as I stood face to face with a large statue of Asmodeus  I can bring tears to your eyes and a smile to your face. I form in an instant and last for a lifetime, but I can be forgotten. What am I? The voice reverberated in my skull.

"A memory, you are a memory." The statues lips cracked into a smile The first, the true. A fire started in his hand before sliding onto the forest floor Kill well Cazador. I felt a shiver run up my spine as I was consumed by the freezing fire.

I walked out of the fire having to duck in order to not smack my head on the hearth, dropping my bags on the floor I saw I was in a decent sized office. I heard keys jiggle as the doorknob turn "-lad thats over, now I hav-" I turned looking at an absolute unit of a woman "Oh my god, you finally came." I sat down as she got behind her desk "You look young, I though the Hunters where an older people. Can you even do what I ask of you?" I deadpanned "I can do whatever you need, but I do need to know what you need."

She nodded grabbing a bushel of papers "Several deaths recently, I don't need everyone blaming my students for these. Today is outreach day, I need you to protect my pupils." I groaned, I did not want to babysit. "You will be compensated, and word of advice follow the dark broody girl. Trouble seems to follow her."

My employer then laid fifteen Ducat on the table, I grabbed one rubbing my finger over the silver section before moving to the golden head in the center. "Real genuine ducat...Strange, I thought you would have the fake shit." I stood up pocketing the coins before grabbing my bags "Ill find my own way around, I was already briefed at the Hunters camp. Ill make my own camp outside the gate, find me there tonight." She nodded as I turned leaving.

I affixed my mask letting my long silver ringed hair flow from the hood, dropping my bags in a hidden spot near the front gate I grabbed ten fairly long, thin, smooth blades of silver, I hid them under my coat as I began tracking the trail left by the students shuttles.

~le timeskip~

Rain, devilish rain. The road quickly flooded and I was forced to rely on my inner Intuition, the town seemed mostly deserted...but I did only stick to the outskirts. My heart felt I would find what I needed in the woods, and a hunter trusted his guts. Walking through the woods a single noise popped into my head, a scream. I rushed into action as a word pressed form me in an unnatural manner "VELOCIDADE!"

Quickly time seemed to slow to a snails pace, but I knew I just sped up to demonic speeds. I made quick work of the distance till I found what only confused me. Three glowing eyes view their surroundings from their thin sockets. A wide nose rests below, but it's the long mouth below that takes all the attention. A brittle smile reveals rows of crooked teeth and a huge tongue.

Thin squared ears sit on each side of its small, angular head, which itself is covered in scaly ridges. Its short athletic body is hunched over. Two thin warping arms Grappling a small girl. Its legs are short and are slightly bent, each ending in thin feet. Its body is covered in delicate skin and its shoulders are about the same width as its pelvis.

Its mouth was in a wide sharp toothed grin as It slowly pulls the girls arm towards its mouth, I pulled two knives from under my coat throwing them towards the creature "Pare!" I spoke as time resumed to normal. The blades stuck true freeing the girl "Fucking Hobgoblins," I spoke drawing my copper blade "never seem to learn!"

Charging the Hobgoblin I slashed its gut open before pushing the barbed blade through its sternum. "shhhh..." I thought off a word to use  as i wrapped my arm around the demon "Your free now.....esmagar." As I uttered the last word the demons neck collapsed decapitating the beast.

I began to tie the head to my belt "You okay?" I said to the girl "Who...who are you?" I collected and cleaned my blades before standing "They call me Cazador."
