Chapter 10: Free

"Nova! Nova please wake up. I'm begging you, Wake Up!!!"

3 was crying. And so was Nova. She had been asleep for 2 days. She would shake and then cry at some points. Just like the side of 3s face that no one bothered to notice or mention which was bruised teal was all over Novas hands, legs, and on her cheek. 3 held her hand which felt rough. They were wiping their tears from getting on Nova. Before 3 could speak again Novas eyes opened.

"Nova?"
"huh? yellow...blue hat...3?"

Her voice was sleepy and tired. 3 brought her in for a tight hug.

"I thought I lost you!"

3 cried. Nova started again too. 3 put Novas glasses on her so she could see

"I'm sorry for everything. I should've never left. Or maybe never even came here."
"No, no you did good. You made a good choice coming here. You were lucky you had me and Callie and Marie and the others."
"I didn't like what happened. I don't like being alone."
"You won't be anymore. You have good friends now."

Nova laid back down.

"My hands and legs hurt. A lot."
"I've been there. You want something to eat?"

3 asked while wiping away tears and blowing their nose.

"No. I feel extremely tired. Like I just ran across the whole planet."
"Alright. You wanna know some good news? Elias is gone."
"Really?"
"Mhm. You're free."

Nova smiled.

"Does Callie and Marie know? Maybe Marina?"
"Callie and Marie don't know you're alive-ish and well. Marina and Agent 8 saw you 2 days ago but you were still kinda sanitized."
"Can you tell them?"
"Well, it's a Friday today so how about I invite them all over tomorrow for the weekend as a surprise?"
"That sounds nice."
"Can you get up and walk?"
"I dunno."

She lifted herself up and put her feet on the ground. Her legs were shaky and so were her hands. She almost fell but barely caught her self.

"Try to get to the bathroom. It's close and you can see how you look. Not saying you look bad or anything!!! Just different."
"Haha, I know what you mean."

She shakily walked with her arm on the wall for support. She entered the bathroom and turned the light on. Her eyes were light purple, her hair was still dark blue fading to pale green, and her right cheek was covered with a teal mark like 3. She walked back to the bedroom.

"So?"
"Cool."
"Do you wanna start to plan or do something for tomorrow?"
"Hmmm.... I dunno. I think most of it would be talking though."
"Sure but you don't want snacks?"
"What kind?"
"I got cup noodles. That's taking up most of my pantry along with chips."
"Maybe."
"I'll go call everyone and tell them to come tomorrow. Is 12:00 pm good?"
"Sure."

"HI 3!!!!!!!!!"
"Ouchy, my ear. I have a surprise for you, Marie, Marina, and 8. Could you all come over to my place at around 12:00 pm?"
"Mhm yeah Of course! Is Nova doing oka-"
"Oh woops, I forgot I have to do uh.... work! Gotta go!"

"Is it a yes?"
"Mhm."
"What did you mean by Alive-ish a bit ago?"
"Well, when someone is sanitized they lose all free will and become a mindless zombie for somebody. When Marina and 8 came 2 days ago she said you had no heartbeat."
"No heartbeat? How's that possible?"
"If I'm being honest, I don't know. mAgIc"

Nova stayed in the bed or on the couch most of the day. When night came 3 was worried something else might happen so they set up a sleeping bag in the bedroom and let Nova sleep in the bed. In the morning 3 dug around her closet for 10 minutes trying to find clothes for Nova. They gave up and handed her sweatpants and a sweater. 12:00 came around and 2 cars pulled up in front of the building. Nova hid in the bedroom with the door closed and 3 was at the front door. Callie, Marie, Marina, and 8 all came in.

"So what's the surprise??????"
"Chill out Callie"
"No no it's fine. It's in the bedroom."
