"A half circular movement with your wrist, and then straight down dear."

"Right... okay." you practiced the motion in the air. "How's the pronunciation?"

"Wingardium Leviosa. Stress on the O, not the A."

A few days had passed since your first day of class. The professors were all very understanding and accommodating even though you understood practically nothing compared to your peers. You met with a different teacher everyday during study period for tutoring, today of which was Flitwick.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" you focused all of your energy into your wand and attempted the spell. The feather levitated slightly off the table, swaying back and forth.

"Wonderful Y/n, good job!" Flitwick smiled at you. He seemed genuinely pleased.

You beamed as you looked back at him, this was the first spell that you managed to cast on your own. Transfiguration with McGonagall involved a lot of reading and studying. Herbology was essentially gardening— just with a bit more finesse. Flitwick was kind enough to start you with a spell right off the bat.

"This is beyond cool." you were astonished as you observed the feather. It was almost inconceivable that this magic came from you.

"Why don't you practice a few more times and then we'll wrap up the lesson?" he climbed down from the stack of books he was on and headed towards his desk.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" you repeated, levitating the feather in the same fashion as before. It stayed still in the air for a moment before zooming across the room; right into the palm of a girl. You didn't even notice when she got there.

She had shortly cut bright pink hair and a few piercings on her nose and ears. Her yellow trimmed robes told you that she was a Hufflepuff, if you couldn't tell by the smirk she wore.

"A little behind on your studies?" she grinned. "About... six years or so?" Her teasing was lighthearted.

"Give or take." you laughed. "I'm new. Not just to the school, but everything."

She walked over to your desk and returned the feather.

"Forgot my books Professor." she called to Flitwick. His eyes lit up as he saw her.

"Oh, Miss Tonks! You have Potions next don't you?" he glanced at you. "Do you think you could escort our new student?"

"Yeah of course." she nodded. "You haven't been yet?"

Potions class was on your schedule for the second half of the week. You hadn't seen Professor Snape since your day at Diagon Alley. He made no effort to reach out or check up on you like the other teachers had. You wondered if you would even have tutoring with him.

"No, it's in the dungeons right?" you had picked up a little bit on the layout of the school. It seemed ominous to have a class in such an environment.

You began to gather up your belongings and place them in your bag. The school supplies allowed at Hogwarts were much more archaic than what you were used to. No notebooks or binders, all your notes had to be taken on parchment with a quill and ink. You hadn't spotted a singular pencil since you arrived. The textbooks were so much heavier, too.

You let out a quiet sigh as you heaved the bag over your shoulder.

"Thank you for the lesson, Professor!" you waved at Flitwick before leaving.

Tonks kept a leisurely pace as you two walked. Her arms swayed from side to side, her legs at a bounce. She almost looked animated. She asked you a bunch of questions about your life before Hogwarts; Where did you live? What kind of school did you go to? Did you really not know you had magic?
