How?

Chapter Eight

After finally managing to get an hour or twos sleep, I woke up to Elyssha Longbottom poking my face.
Elyssha was the only person I could call a friend if I'm honest.
Well...the only person I could call a friend who I'm NOT related to.

"Lily. Lily. Lily. Lily. Lily. Lily."
She stopped for a few seconds and I opened my eyes with a sigh of relief.
But then she started poking my face again.
"Lily you're awake. Wow. Okay. Sorry about this. I didn't sleep. Now I'm hyper."
She stopped poking and began giggling to herself as she walked to her side of the dorm room.
I shook my head and laughed.
All thought of the tournament had left my mind.

Elyssha was 15 like me, but a child at heart.
Her fluffy black hair was stuck up in about 50 different directions and her brown eyes were as wide as a dogs when treats are involved.
Overall it was a terrifying sight.

I managed to roll out of bed, literally.
I was that lazy I rolled and fell onto the hard wooden floor.
No doubt that would lead to a nice big bruise on my arse. Yay.

I managed to get a shower and throw my uniform on without any further casualties.
I walked back into the dorm room, kicking the oak door open with my foot as my hands were busy French plaiting my red hair.

Once I'd finished I looked over to Elysshas bed and saw her waiting for me with puppy eyes and that look only means one thing.
"Please please please can we go get food now Lily so I can ogle over your cousin"

As much as she never liked to admit it.
Elyssha was head over heels for Hugo.
The only person that has never noticed it was Hugo himself, the poor ignorant little sod.

I giggled to myself and turned to Elyssha "come on then, if we're lucky Hugo might even still be there" I smirked a little but she just death glared me and looked down, her face flushing.

I was right though, when we got down to the Great Hall, Hugo was indeed still there...eating...as usual.
I sat beside him and Elyssha took the seat across from him and everybody was staring at me.
My father used to tell me about what Hogwarts was like when he was younger. About how people had to sit at tables depending on their house and I'm glad that rule changed.

I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't sit with my family, I didn't really have many other friends.

My face started to burn and I looked down at the wooden table.
Albus, leaned in and whispered, "they're shocked, that's all...James is pissed though, I mean...he wanted to be part of the competition but seeing you being chosen made it worse."
I mumbled something under my breath so he couldn't hear me and reached over to get one of the shiny red apples in the bowl in front of Hugo. I tried to keep my head down so people wouldn't see the tears in my eyes that threatened to spill over.
I glanced at him for a brief second and saw him watching Elyssha as she spoke to Sam Finnegan.
He noticed me watching and turned his head away.
I smirked a little and checked my timetable:
1- potions
2- herbology
Break
3-charms
Lunch
4- defence against the dark arts
5- defence against the dark arts

Great. Two hours with Malfoy.
That would be fun, especially after the events of last night.

I sighed to myself and stood, everyone's eyes still burning into me as I walked out of the Great Hall, my head down so people didn't see my face.
Walking down to potions I walked past Lysander but I didn't have the courage to say anything to him so I just walked past and kept my head low.
"Lily?"
I pretended I didn't hear him and carried on walking until I heard him turn and run towards me.
"Lily I need to talk to you, I was just on my way to the hall to find you..."
He stepped in front of me and I stopped looking up at him.
His eyes were filled with hurt and betrayal and I had to force myself to look away.
I couldn't take it.
"Look Lysander, I'm not in the mood right now, I'll talk to you later I promise"
He lifted my head up so I was looking at him.
"Promise?"
I sighed. "Yes I promise, I have to go I'm going to be late for lesson"
He smiled slightly and kissed my forehead.
"I'll come and find you later Lils, and don't worry, it'll be okay"
He squeezed my hand and walked away.
Part of me desperately wanted to believe him but I knew nothing was going to be okay.
