~The Betrayal~

Chapter the 1st

     "Emma, no! Please.. You promised you would never tell anyone. I thought we were friends..!" Zoey Adler pleaded, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I never promised. In fact, when you asked me 'you promise?' I never answered." Emma Hunter snapped. "And girl, I've been sick of you for ages." She added harshly.

Zoey's eyes flashed open as she shot out of bed, her hands still shaking.. "What the... Was that a dream...?"

Zoey turned her phone on and went to diskrod (AN: discord lol, this is the name in this story just a warning :P) and texted her online best friend Maddie. (AN: I'm going to be writing differently to show the texts)

Zoey<3: Hey Maddie.. Had another nightmare.

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Again? U should srsly tell ur parents one day... I'm not even kidding

Zoey<3: My mom won't care.. You know yourself Maddie :(

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Okay... But what was your nightmare abt this time?

Zoey<3: Emma.... Told everyone about Alex.. And she said that 'she's been sick of me for ages'

Maddie_かぼちゃ: But she didn't irl... Right??

Zoey<3: No... But she almost did... Like, in a teasing way... I think..? And she's been hanging out with the Popular girls when I have my clubs and stuff, and she makes excuses to talk to them even when I don't have my clubs.

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Well... She has new friends, can't you be their friends too?

Zoey<3: See, there's the problem. They think I'm ugly and stuff and call me a nerd. Shoot, gotta get ready for school, Text u on the bus?

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Yep! I'm already at school lol

Zoey<3: Oh lol forgot ur school starts at 8. How are you not getting caught?! U in the bathroom?

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Lol no, we have a 5 minute warning bell

Zoey<3: Ohh that makes sense. Alr cyaaa

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Wait wait wait, when does ur school start???

Zoey<3: 8:45am

Maddie_かぼちゃ: What the fu—

Zoey: MADDIEEEEEE DON'T SWEAR! ALR GOTTA GO BYEEEEEEEEE!

Maddie_かぼちゃ: You literally start school almost an hour after me Jesus how is that fair

Zoey: Idk gtg text u on bus ok byeee

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Wait, doesn't Emma sit w/ u on bus? Don't u wanna talk to her??

Zoey: U MAKING ME WAIT SO LONG. What? Oh.. she sits with popular girls.

Maddie_かぼちゃ: Awww :( OKAY NOW GOG GO GOGOGOGOGOGOGOOO!!

Zoey: SDIONKSNKGHSINKSA OK OK

And with that, Zoey turned her phone off and went to change. She quickly ate breakfast and ran to the bus stop, waiting for the bus.

Well, another day of feeling left out. Zoey thought. Just then, Emma walked up to Zoey.

"Zoey, I'm going to sit with Jessica, Tina, and Mia at lunch today. Sorry!" Emma apologized half-heartedly, without even saying 'hello'.

"Oh." Zoey replied. "Okay.. See ya around I guess.."

Zoey walked away and sighed. Emma always used to be inclusive and kind.

Flashback

(AN: This is Zoey and Emma in first grade)

1st grade Zoey was sitting on the bench crying. Emma walked up to her. "Zoey.. What happened?? Don't cry!!" 1st grade Emma pleaded.

"My daddy went away, and he said he isn't coming back!" Zoey cried.

Emma hugged Zoey tight. "I'm sorry... Do you want to have a girl's sleepover? Maybe it will make you feel better." Emma suggested.

Zoey beamed. "Yes please!!!" She shouted excitedly.

"Ok, I'll ask my mom!" Emma replied.

End of Flashback

Emma would always care about my feelings... Zoey thought. Welp, not anymore.. Now all she wants to do is hang out with popular people and do god knows what.

"Zoey? Zoey hello?!" Someone called, snapping Zoey out of her thoughts.

Zoey turned around "Huh? What? Sorry I zoned out who's the-" She said, then saw A familiar figure. 

Why is Emma here again??? Zoey thought.

"Oh... Hey Emma.. What's up?" Zoey said.

"I wanted to tell you something.. It's a secret but I can trust you, right?" Emma asked.

What?! She wants to tell me a secret?? Well, ok then i guess. Thought Zoey.

"You can trust me." Zoey said. 

"Alright.." Emma reluctantly agreed. She fiddled with her fingers. " I... I have a crush... On Alex Robinson."

And that was what hit Zoey hard. But she couldn't tell Emma that she had a crush on Alex too. So instead she plastered a fake smile. "Oh.. That's great! Awesome ship... heh.."

Emma smiled. "Awwh, thank you! Alright I'm gonna go now, maybe this weekend we can go shopping and you can help me pick an outfit for school so I can impress him?"

"Uhh... Sorry but uhm.. I have to.. Meet up with a friend. Why don't you ask Mia, Tina, or Jessica..?" Zoey replied, but she was internally rolling her eyes. 

(AN: April_Springs14 helped me with the "she was internally rolling her eyes" part hehe. So shout out to her! And I would like you to follow her, but she says "PLEASE DONT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE" For some reason so uhm... Follow your dreams? Lol. Okay back to the story. Sorry for so many Author Notes lol)

Emma gave Zoey an icy glare. "Oh.. sure. Well, I'm going to go ask them now, I guess."

"Sorry Ems.." Zoey replied, using the nickname she used before she and Emma fell apart.

Emma stopped glaring when she heard the nickname. "Calling me Ems again huh?" She grinned.

Zoey smiled, for the first time in a long time. "Yea, I guess so.." And with that, Zoey walked away, but turned her head to see a smiling Emma.

Emma POV:

I can't believe it. Zoey Called me Ems for the first time in a long time. Well I can't warm up to her now right...?

(AN: I'm usually not that good at cliffhangers but I think this one was pretty good. Anyways y'all shall have to wait till tomorrow for Chapter the Second 😁)
