//short chapter//

Richie wakes up to loud ring, which would presumably be the house phone. He groans and calls out to Bev, who is snoring softly on the bed besides him.

"Beevv," Richie growls out.

"Get the thingy—"

Beverly cracks open an eye and then moans out a no, then falls into deep sleep again.

Richie groans even harder in annoyance and tosses off his sheet of blankets that were piled on him, despite the hot weather that went through Derry.

He sits up and shivers as his bare feet make contact with the cold floor. He throws on his glasses and then steps over the stuffed animals that are spewed across the wood floor.

While he dodges teddy bears and other animals, the ringing stops and Richie's eyes shoot up from the silence that sudden filled his ears. Then the ringing started up again and Richie sighed. But he hurries so he won't miss the call again.

He glances up at the string up star lights that Beverly insisted they strung up and grins a little, seeing how the lights tinkle like her glossy eyes. Then he walks out the door and towards the kitchen wall, where the blue telephone sat.

He moved quickly to grab the phone, making sure not to miss the call.

"Hello?" Richie started out. His voice was a little crokey but it made sense since it was at least 7 AM.

"Hi— it's Eddie, y'know, from the roller rink" A feathery and pitchy voice spoke.

Eddie, who's normally up at this time, was standing awkwardly by a bathroom door with a phone secured in his hand, along with a cord dangling out the door. Eddie still lived with his mother, so he had to be quiet so he wouldn't wake her from her slumber downstairs.

"Oh hey ed's, what are doing calling this early dude?" Richie asks. He pushes up his glasses and stares at a picture that was hanging up by a magnet on the fridge.

It was a picture of him and Beverly the first day they met. Richie still hadn't grown much yet and Beverly still had her long red hair. Both of them look different but they didn't change much. Richie just grew ten inches or so and Beverly had chopped off her locks. It was small but drastic changes.

"Sorry, normal time for me to get up. And don't call me that Richie" Eddie whines into the line stubbornly. Then he continues, "Anyways what are you doing today?" Eddie asks with his sweet honey-dipped voice.

Richie wishes he could hear his sweet timid voice whisper in his ear. He wishes he could hear more of the angelic chords that were played when Eddie opened his mouth.

"Uhh nothing much, today is mine and Bev's day off from the rink so probably just–" Richie says before Eddie interjects accidentally.

"Wait who's Bev?"

"Beverly Marsh. The cook your little friend has a crush on" Richie replies, turning around just to see the piercing pair of eyes staring at him.

"Infact, she's right here. Giving me a death glare " Richie continues.

Beverly rolls her cloudy eyes and steps out the doorway she was just standing in. She walks into the kitchen, passing Richie and the phone, and grabs a bowl. She continues to fetch a bag of Cheerios and some milk from the fridge. She pours both in (cereal first, weirdos) and dips in a spoon and walks out of the kitchen and into the living room and splats herself onto the couch.

"Oh, well that's cool. Um, do you have anything to do tomorrow?" Eddie asks, twirling the phone cord nervously.

"Unfortunately, yes. I have to go shopping with bev for a new dress or something I dunno..sorry short stack" Richie says disappointingly.

"Oh—thats okay, was just wondering" Eddie says shyly, feeling a bit sad now. Eddie is confused on why he's feeling sad and disappointed, he'd just met Richie.

"Unless, you want to come with. You can bring your brunette friend with you yeah?" Richie says. He tilts his head to look at Bev, who has turned on the TV.

"Um—sure! Where should we meet you guys?" Eddie asks.

"Meet us by Betty's ice cream polar, there's thrift stores behind it" Richie replies.

"Okay, see you guys there I guess?" Eddie says.

"Yeah..see you guys there" Richie says smiling.

"Okay bye Rich" Eddie says.

"Bye ed's" Richie says right before he can respond.

Richie places the phone back in the placeholder and walks fully into the kitchen to find something to eat.

"Really rich?" Beverly muffles out. She's walking towards the sink behind Richie to rinse out her bowl. She also has some cereal in her mouth.

Richie shrugs and grins at her annoyance.

"What? I thought I'd be your excellent wingman just like you were mine" Richie says.

"Ugh, I really hate you sometimes asshole" Beverly groans out.

"Wanna go smoke?" Richie asks, holding up a pack of Winstons.

"Finally something good comes out of her mouth. C'mon trashmouth" Beverly says, dropping her bowl by the sink and grabbing a lighter that was placed by a candle on one of the kitchen counters.
