– NEEDLESS TO SAY, MAL WAS DISPLEASED WHEN THEY GOT A HIT ON TRACKING LOKI AND SHE WASN'T ALLOWED TO COME. But she'd promised Fury she wouldn't cause any trouble, and she would at least try to make good on that. It was when she and Bruce were working on the setup for tracking the Cube that she felt it. It was like a jolt up her spine that made her straighten suddenly. She felt as if her magic was reaching out of its own accord for something it was sensing; more magic, familiar... and strong.

"You know, the last time I was in Germany, and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing."

"The soldier. The man out of time."

"I'm not the one who's out of time."

Steve and Loki both took quite the beating from one another before Stark showed, leaving the Asgardian outnumbered. He didn't resist when they escorted him to the jet to take into custody, and that was what bothered everyone the most. Why was he giving in? What was he gaining from this? They were under some heavy cloud cover, heading through the mountains when the first sign of trouble struck.

"I don't like it." Steve muttered.

Tony shot him a glance. "What, Rock of Ages giving up so easily?"

"I don't remember it being that easy." He retorted. "This guy packs a wallop."

"Still, you are pretty spry for an older fellow." Stark mused. "What's your thing? Pilates?"

"What?"

"It's like callisthenics. You might've missed a couple things, you know, doing time as a Capsicle."

Steve shot him a look. "Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in."

"Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you."

Jut then, they were interrupted by a sudden crack of lightning, the sound reverberating all around them. The jet trembled slightly, but pressed on assuringly. Suddenly, the storm was everywhere. "Where's this coming from?" Natasha frowned.

Loki sat forward slightly, suddenly tense as his eyes fixated on the sky. It was the first time they'd seen the arrogance drain away. What was left behind was suspiciously close to nervousness. "What's the matter?" Steve scoffed. "Scared of a little lightning?"

"I'm not overly fond of what follows." Only seconds later, the jet rocked again, this time with impact. It sounded like something had landed on the roof -- scratch that, two somethings, the second only slightly less heavy than the first. Steve and Tony immediately went for their helmets, the latter opening the large door to get a look at what was going in. The first thing they saw was a figure in a red cloak drop to their level, a large hammer clutched in one hand. Seconds later, a whirl of huge black wings came into view, striking Tony back when he attempted to confront the first figure. Before Steve could think on it, a wing slammed into him, and as the first figure leapt from the jet with Loki in tow, the second one turned and followed.

Steve pulled himself to his feet with only a slight wince, trying to shake off the twisting sense of wrongness. He hadn't gotten a clear look at the winged one's face, but he could have sworn it looked like... As if the nightmares weren't bad enough. He thought bitterly. Now I'm actually hallucinating her.

"And now there's those two." Tony grumbled.

"More Asgardians?!" Nat guessed.

"Think they're friendly?" Steve questioned.
