Shidou Ryuusei was fucking excited.

Hell, he was so excited he'd barely managed to sleep a goddamn wink last night. His cells had been practically bursting, his body a trembling bundle of nerves as his legs eagerly anticipated the football he'd be playing today, tomorrow, the day after that, and so on.

The first day of Paris X Gen's official training schedule had gone exactly as he'd hoped. Shidou had proven himself a valuable player - not that he hadn't already known this, anyways - and scored way too high of a ranking than he'd ever imagined.

Shidou wasn't very good at numbers or statistics. He was more of a feelings guy, played more on his emotions rather than with his mind. But he'd managed to get through the relatively easy training course with speed and agility, something that Shidou thought he wasn't the most refined in. And he'd beaten five other professional PXG members while he was at it. How fucking perfect was that?

The best part about all this, though, was not the fact that Rin's presence on the team gave him some much-appreciated entertainment. No, even though he absolutely adored teasing that icy prick of a player, that delusional kid who had a weird thing going for his older brother, he certainly wasn't the star of Shidou's show right now.

No. Itoshi fucking Sae was.

He was back, and this time Shidou hadn't even had to come to him - Sae had come all the way to Japan, all the way to Blue Lock. He'd practically flown his way right to Shidou's feet.

Yep. This truly was the best motherfucking week of his entire life. And Shidou hoped it would never end.

Breakfast that morning was another excuse to buddy it up with his new best friend. Everyone else here at Blue Lock seemed to despise him, or were at least intimidated by his violent tendencies to some degree. They mostly steered clear of him lest they say something to piss him off and warrant a pummelling, something Shidou was bad at controlling due to his impulsivity.

What? it wasn't his fault he struggled to control his urges, his body basically acted on its own. It was out of Shidou's hands what his limbs chose to do, who they chose to punch or drop-kick. And sometimes he wasn't even mad when he lashed out, just itching for something to explode at, someone to direct all this balled-up energy he had.

So, as Shidou entered the PXG cafeteria, his first order of instinct was to find that lovely little Itoshi he so adored. And no, he wasn't talking about Rin, who just so happened to enter around the same time as him. He was talking about his big brother; the wonderful, talented, ruthless Itoshi Sae.

Shidou located him at the opposite end of the cafeteria. He was chatting with that Loki genius, his hands shoved nonchalantly into his hoodie pockets. Sae was wearing grey sweats and a blue hoodie labelled with some fancy-ass brand Shidou knew he couldn't afford. How nice it must have been to be sponsored by clothing companies like that. From the time he'd spent with Sae training for the U-20s match, he'd observed that Sae had expensive taste. He dressed really damn well for a guy so focused on his football career, and Shidou was a fan of his style.

He watched Sae turn and head toward the five-star buffet that had been catered by Ego specifically for the addition of star players. Sae grabbed a tray, and Shidou made his way over to join him, perhaps a little too eager at this early hour of the morning. Grabbing his own tray, he sidled up beside his new favourite person.

"Morning, sunshine," Shidou greeted cheerfully, that typical playfulness in his tone. Call him controversial, but Shidou really fucking liked riling up Sae with all the unnecessary phrases and nicknames. He liked getting a reaction out of the otherwise cold guy.
