He felt frantically around his nightstand for his phone as he didn't want to move from the comfortable position he had tried so hard to get into. He finally found his phone and pulled it in closer to his face. He pressed done on the alarm button and was overcome with brightness as his lock screen popped up with several reminders. 'Don't be late for school, get up in time for school, take meds before school, remember to be on time for school' most likely set by neteyam. Lo'ak unlocked his phone and went automatically to tiktok.
Just as he scrolled past his first video he heard a knock on the door. He didn't answer. "Hello?" Someone said as they opened the door. Loaks eyes were still adjusting as he had turned his brightness down as soon and he opened his phone. So when the door opened and all the sunlight came in from the foyer he couldn't help but duck under the covers. "Are you some kind of vampire?" Kiri asked. All Lo'ak did was grunt. "Well you need to get up." No response. Kiri walked closer to the bed as she pulled the covers off of Lo'ak and off the bed. "Wake up sleepyhead!" Kiri said. She said it louder then her usual tone but not loud enough for everyone else to hear. "We're going to be late. And on our first day." Kiri said as she grabbed a couple of cups off loaks bedside table. "Get up." She said one last time as she walked out of his room. Not shutting the door because her hands were filled with cups. Lo'ak groaned as he forced himself to sit up in bed. He got up to close the door and was met with his mirror. He scratched himself in the mirror before going to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Once he was done in the bathroom he pick out a Nike tee and basketball shorts from his drawers. He also grabbed a pair of Nike blazers and white Nike socks. Lo'ak was always a big fan of Nike. He walked back to his mirror as he grabbed his backpack and gave one final look at himself to make sure he looked okay.
He walked into the kitchen and was immediately embraced by his mothers warm hug. "Oh! My sweet baby boy! How did you sleep?" Neytiri asked. "Good mama. Thank you." Lo'ak said, struggling to get out of his moms long hug. "Lo'ak! Eat! Quick! We have to go! We're already late!" Neteyam said as he rushed down the stairs. "I'm going out to start the car. Be out there in 5 minutes." Neteyam said as he grabbed his car keys off the counter. Lo'ak nodded as he sat down to eat his bagel that his mom had made for him. Once he finished he gulped down some water after taking his meds. "Bye mama!" Lo'ak said as he put his plate in the sink and rushed out the door. He was sure his mom responded but he couldn't hear if she did.
Neteyam pulled into a parking spot as Lo'ak stared in awe at the massive school sitting in front of them. They usually went to cheap schools and didn't get to even see a school this big. He watched students rush in towards the front door as an admin started to close them. "Let's go!" Neteyam yelled as he hopped out of the car. Lo'ak followed from the front seat and Kiri shuffled across the back seats to get out. They ran up towards the school just before the door closed. "Thank you!" Kiri said. The admin looked her up and down and didn't say anything. "Ok. Rude."
Lo'ak chuckled a bit as they walked into the main office. He scanned around for someone who might have their schedules and saw a sign on a desk saying 'advisory help' "hey bro. What about that?" Lo'ak asked, tapping neteyam on the shoulder. They all walked towards the desk. Lo'ak looked from behind neteyam to see a young girl. She was very pretty and she had tan skin. Not as dark as Lo'aks though. She had black hair that was wavy and passed her shoulders on top of her head it was put into braids but soon went to its natural state as it hung from her ears. She was wearing a worried look on her face beige she noticed the three teens standing there. "Hello!" She said. He expression immediately changed to a smile and she looked up with perfect focus at them.
"Hi, um we were just wondering if we could get our schedules? We're new students here." Neteyam spoke up. "Oh! You must be the sullys! Let me..." she said as she rummaged though her desk. "Here! She handed the teens each one price of yellow paper with highlighted bell schedules and important classes. "I took the liberty of highlighting your important stuff for you so you wouldn't forget." She said still pulling off the perfect smile. Lo'ak nodded at her in thanks and she turned to flash another bright smile at him. He could feel his face getting red. "I can walk you guys to your first class if you want! I'm actually late as well so I just got my stuff together to go to home room." She said scratching the back of her head. "You don't work here?" Lo'ak asked with a puzzled look on his face. "No, no! I'm a student! I just help volunteer in the mornings before classes start and I knew you guys were coming so I stayed here a little longer an waited until you guys arrived." She said as she gathered her school supplies. "Yea sorry about that. We were just running a little late this morning." Neteyam said. "I'm neteyam by the way. And this is my sister Kiri and my brother Lo'ak." Neteyam motioned twoards his two siblings as Lo'ak burried his face in his hands embarrassed. "I'm Tsireya! You all have very unique names!" The girl said. As she led us out of the office. "Our moms Arabic so she had the task of naming us." Lo'ak stated. "Oh! That explains that!" Tsireya said turning back to flash another smile."Ok! Here we are! Neteyam this is your home room. My brother is also in this class so make sure he's nice!" Tsireya said. She waited until he got into the classroom until she kept walking. They came up to wha seemed to be the library. "Kiri, your home room is just inside to the left!" Tsireya said. Kiri face was beaming with joy. She loved books. "And Lo'ak, this is our homeroom!" She said. As she entered the classroom. The desks were in those classic rows with the old fashioned right handed tables attached to the chairs. Tsireya handed a note to the home room teacher before motioning Lo'ak to come over. "Lo'ak, this is mr abrams. He's our homeroom teacher." Tsireya said as she took a step back for Lo'ak to stand next to her. "Hello." Lo'ak said. Tsireya giggled slightly as she pulled Lo'ak to one of the desks. "This is where I sit. You can sit there so you have someone you know close!" Tsireya said, putting her bag down on the floor. Lo'ak did the same and looked around the room to recognize himself with the other students. He started playing with a hairtie of his waiting for the class to be over.
