Kiri slowly trudged through the hallway to her second period. She had just had first period and it was miserable. It was fully of boys throwing things at each other while girls were giggling at how 'funny' they were. Kiri rummaged through her tote bag trying to find her chapstick. Before she was so rudely interrupted by someone hitting her on the back. She whipped her head around "what do you want.." she was quickly cut off  "oh hi Lo'ak." She said now in a very polite manor. "Hey." Lo'ak said slowing down his pace so they were walking next to each other. "What's your next class?" Lo'ak asked pulling out his schedule. Kiri looked through her bag and pulled out her phone. "I asked what your next class was." Lo'ak said peeking over her shoulder. "I know. I know. I just have it saved on my phone. Calm down." Kiri said swatting her brother away from her head. She handed him the phone as he held up the two schedules in comparison to one another. "Oh sweet! We both have the same lunch period." Lo'ak said handing Kiri her phone back. "Although you do have next period with teyam." Lo'ak said with fake sorrow in his face. "Why are you such an ass." Kiri said sarcastically flicking loaks forehead. "Ow!" He yelled. And ran away from her into a nearby classroom. when she passed he poked his head out and waved goodbye to her. Kiri kept walking down the long hallway and into her next classroom. Neteyam was already there and had grabbed them a table together. He waved her over as she observed all the posters hanging on the wall. They were all of animals. There were butterflies and frogs and worms. Kiri loved biology. It was always her favorite. She loved learning about animals and the planet. "How has your day been?" Neteyam asked laying his head down on the table. "Fine. Nothing special." Kiri did the same. She sighed as she saw that neteyam had closed his eyes. Obviously not very interested in there conversation. Kiri sat up and continued to look around. She saw lots of microscopes and small enclosures that looked like they were used to hold animals. She gazed to the chalk board and studied the writing on it. She didn't understand any of it. God. Kiri hated joining mid year. It wasn't the first time either. They had moved a bunch in the past couple of years. Their dad was in the military so it wasn't rare that they moved around due to his job. Unfortunately that meant the kids had to start over at another school again. And kiri didn't seem to like this one. "Psst teyam." Kiri shook neteyam to wake him up. He immediately shot up as soon as Kiri touched him. He was always jumpy. "Calm down. It's just me. Do you have a pen I could borrow?" Kiri asked. She held out her hand to take the pen after neteyam shook his head on agreement before he closed his eyes. Kiri was worried with how much neteyam seemed to be so out of touch. But it was normal for him. He was really off lately. He always was up and ready for anything but he had seemed to be feeling down. Maybe it was the move? Although he never had trouble with it before. Kiri thought she knew what it was. She sighed before chewing on Neteyams pen and looked out the window, not paying attention to what was happening in class.

The bell rang and Kiri shot up. She must've fallen asleep. "Hey. You coming?" Neteyam asked as Kiri rushed to gather her stuff. She shoved everything into her tote bag before following neteyam out into the hallway. It was their lunch so the hall was very crowded with people grabbing lunch from their lockers and chatting with their friends. They bee-lined their way into the cafeteria before scoping out an empty table. Neteyam tapped Kiri on the shoulder to direct her to the table. She flinched at the touch. "Hey there's a table over there." Neteyam said as he lowered his hand quickly off his sisters shoulder. Kiri nodded and followed in Neteyams steps before sitting down next to him. She glanced around the lunch room while looking for Lo'ak in the crowded lines of people buying food. Her eyes skimmed over a table full of laughing boys to see one staring in her direction. He was blond and had scruffs up hair. He was wearing a baggy t-shirt but that was all she could see. She quickly looked away when neteyam leaned over into her view to get her attention. "You good?" He asked with a worried look on his face. Kiri nodded in response and quickly looked around for a distraction. "Hey I see Lo'ak" she said, hopping to ease the little tension. She waved her hand in the air to signal Lo'ak over. Kiri could see him scanning across the cafeteria awkwardly with his lunch tray in hand. As soon as his eyes scanned over Kiri and neteyam he nodded his head and started walking over. Kiri sighed and opened up her lunch. Neteyam had packed it for her the night before as she 'fell asleep early'. In reality she was up all night watching Netflix on her laptop with her cat. That was typical for Kiri as she never went to bed at a reasonable time. But she did go to bed earlier than Lo'ak. He stayed up almost all night on his monitor 'gaming' or whatever her did. Kiri and neteyam always joked that he was on 'the hub' all night but that was always a running joke between the two. Kiri looked back into her lunch box and practically dumped it out into the table. There were pretzels, Carrots and celery, and a salad. Kiri's typical lunch meal. Lo'ak on the other hand grabbed the crappy lunch food consisting of a dry ass hamburger and an apple. Kiri looked at him in disgust. "Ew" she snickered. Lo'ak turned mid bite to make a face at her. "Hey!" A voice called. All three of the siblings looked up to see Tsireya, Aonung, and rotxo walking over to their lunch table. Tsireya and rotxo were the only ones with lunches. "How's your guy's first day going?" Tsireya asked as she sat next to Lo'ak. Rotxo sat on the other side of Kiri and smiled lightly as he sat down. Kiri forced a fake smile and just curled her lips. The circular table was getting quite crowded as the three teens joined them. They were all squeezed together. Aonung was left sitting in the middle of neteyam and rotxo. "You guys should come to our house some time!" Tsireya said excitedly. "What about Saturday?" Everyone nodded in response and went back to eating their lunches. Kiri couldn't help but feel awkward with the very still silence. "What about today?" She asked. Hopping to break the tension. "Sure! Aonung? Is that ok?" Tsireya asked. Aonung nodded. "Sure. I don't mind." He held a short glance towards Tsireya. "I can stop by the store if you want." He added. Tsireya shot him a confused look. "Well you usually like to bake when you have friends over." Aonung laughed. "Yea sure ok." Tsireya said in response. They spent the rest of their lunch talking about what they would do when they got to their house. Kiri texted their parents mid conversation to make sure it was ok.

Once lunch ended Kiri put her lunch box away and headed to her last class. It was history. She knew neteyam had history right now but he wasn't in her class unfortunately. When Kiri walked into her class she saw the same guy who was staring at her during lunch. He looked over at her and shot her a smirk. She rolled her eyes at him and walked to the farthest desk from him. But that didn't stop him from walking over. "Hey. I'm spider, and you must be?" He said leaning up against Kiri's desk. Kiri couldn't help but let out a laugh. He stepped back in confusion. "I'm sorry." Kiri said in between laughs. "I don't mean to laugh but, who the hell names their kid spider?" She couldn't refrain from laughing. "It's a nickname." Spider said seeming to be annoyed. Kiri slowed her laughing down and waited for him to explain. "My real name is miles" she burst into laughter again making him walk away. She finally calmed down when the teacher started blabbing about history and what not. But she couldn't stop herself from falling asleep mid lesson. She was woken up by someone shaking her shoulder. She sat up to see spider there. "It's time to go." He said waiting for her to get up. She collected her stuff and rushed to her locker. She was excited to go to their new friends house but also found it weird how nice they were being. Whatever.
