"Tikki, spots on!" I call out, ignoring my mother yelling my name. I transform into the most powerful version of myself, my mom quickly grabbing my hands and holding me back.
"Marinette, you can't! This isn't an Akuma, you must leave this to the authorities!"
"The authorities are clearly lacking, they haven't saved him yet and he's been taken since early this afternoon!" I argue back, ripping my hands away from my mother's grasp.
"Marinette, I said no!"
"I'm not Marinette right now, mom. I'm Ladybug, you can't mix the two of us up!" I stomp my foot, anger and fear filling me.
"No matter how you dress, or what you do, you're my daughter. I'm the mother of you, incase you didn't realize Ladybug and Marinette are the same person. Which means you have to listen to me, especially in matters like this!" She tries to grab me again, but I pull away quick.
"Don't make me regret telling you! I need to save Adrien. Akuma or not, I'm not leaving him to wait for the incompetent authorities to save him when he's been waiting all day for a rescue! I'll find him and save him myself." My voice wavers, my determined exterior cracking.
"You love him still?" My mom says, drawing me back to reality for a moment.
"Of course I do, I always will."
"Then give him the respect he deserves to not let someone he cares about put themselves in danger for him." My mom tries to reason with me but I shake my head violently.
"I'm giving him the respect he deserves by showing him that he matters and that he isn't left to take care of himself like he always has been."
My Yo-yo rings, making me snap my attention to the device. Answering it quickly, Chat Noir's quiet voice whispers something to me.
"Ladybug, don't ask questions. Im sending you my location, give it to the police and say Adrien Agreste is here."
"Chat! How are you with Adrien? What's going on?"
"I said no questions. Do what I said." My Yo-yo beeps and I see his location come through. Realistically I can get there fast enough. Within twenty minutes as long as I go at my maximum speed.
"Answer this. Why are you there?"
"Ladybug." His tone is quiet but demanding, making me flinch a little. At the end of the day, I need to save Adrien. I trust Chat Noir to stay safe.
Please stay safe.
"I'll be there-"
"No. Don't come, they have guns, M'lady. Just show the police and send them." Without another word, he hangs up and the pit in my stomach grows to be the size of the Grand Canyon.
Shit.
"I'll be home in a bit." I leave before my mom can say another word, ignoring the way she cries out for me. I don't have a choice, I need to save Adrien and Chat Noir.
The two guys I love with my whole heart. I won't allow them to get hurt.
I'm sorry, Chat Noir. But I don't have the time to be rational. I need to get angry.
Very, very angry.
That anger will drive me to destroy anyone and anything that lays a finger on them. I don't need anyone else, I just need to be strong enough and save the boys I love.
My boys. In some weird way that I can't explain, they're mine. And I'm going to protect them.
I move through the busy streets faster than I ever have before. Next thing I know, I'm bursting through the front doors of Adrien's house, hurtling passed all the police offices bustling about. I head straight for Gabriel Agreste, making him smile brightly.
