2001 LAS ANGELES, CALAFORNIA
No one made a sound as the curtain turned from beige to red to black as it burned, no one spoke as the memories where stripped away from the walls as the wallpaper curled and turned to ash and no one moved as the fire engulfed the main floor of the Lawbrooke house and as the fire started to climb the stairs, a little girl named jessie, started to stir for underneath her cozy blankets which now seemed now too hot, which was odd for the cold spring gusts of wind that was blowing outside, she sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, and whined at the heat that had now entered the whole house, the 3 year old hopped out of bed and floor scorching her feet, tears ran down her face as she ran across her room her feet burning as she flung the door open, as she looked down the hall she gasped as she saw the flames quickly spread into her parents room, she cried as she ran to her older brothers room, then she heard something that will be burned into her brain forever and her parents screamed and in pain and agony as they burned in their room, she burst into her brothers room screaming "DYLAN, DYLAN WAKE UP, WAKE UP PLEASE IM SACRED"
she screamed and screamed and yet her brother didn't wake she was screaming till it seems that she was stripped of her voice and psychically couldn't anymore by that time the fire had spread all the way from her parents room and was reaching her brothers room she had hopped on her brothers bed and started hitting his chest as hard as she could till finally his eyes opened
"WOAH WOAH WOAH, bean what's the matter, bean, tell me you need to tell me what's happening"
"FIRE FIRE FIRE DYLAN THERES A FIRE MOOMY AND DADDY ARE IN THE FIRE"
"HOLY SHIT, COME ON BEAN WE NEED TO LEAVE, RUN TO THE BATHROOM OPEN THE BATHROOM WINDOW AND ILL BE THERE IN A COUPLE SECONDS, OK BEAN"
"ok" she sniffles, as she quickly scurries off to the bathroom she closes the toilet seat and climbs on it before pushing open the window and started coughing due to the spoke inhalation when her brother came through the door
" ok baby come here were going to climb out the window and were going to get out "
and then that's when they heard a yell
"LAFD, IF YOU ARE LISTENING SHOUT SO WE CAN FIND YOU"
"HEY WERE IN THE BATHROOM HELP US, PLEASE, MY LITTLE SISTER IN HERE SHES THREE PLEASE HELP US" her brother screamed just as she blacked out
2021 LAS ANGELES, CALAFORNIA
Jessie woke with a gasp, a sheet of cold sweat layed upon her skin, she looked at her alarm clock its three in the morning, she threw the blanket off of her body and sat up as she wiped away the tears in her eyes, she took a deep breath as she crawled out of bed her body sore from thrashing around in her sleep, she sat at the edge of her bed looking at her feet the burn scars from that night reminded her of her child-like foolishness, the fact that her parents told her to turn off the space heater yet she was so tired that she just left it be left it alone and by that it took her whole life away, a life she dreamed of a life where her parents aren't connected to rows of tubes their heart beats displayed for everyone to see and hear, she stood up and padded to her kitchen to get herself a cold glass of water. she leaned against the counter head in her hands as she took in a shaky breath, grabbing her cold glass she took a sip, and she chugged the rest of the glass before putting it in the sink, and heading back to her room picking up her uniform from off the floor before slipping it on and heading to her front door grabbing her keys and her duffel bag, before leaving and locking the door behind her.
5:30 AM 118 FIRE STATION, LAS ANGELES
Bobby and Athena entered the fire station and headed up the stairs to the kitchen and lounge room, and that's when they heard soft snores, they look at the couch, and saw Jessie softly sleeping on the couch, with a now cold mug of untouched coffee, they felt small smiles creeping up on their faces
"HEY, bobby you here" Buck shouted
" shhhhh, buck you'll wake her up" bobby whispered
"who will I wak- ohhhh Jessies sleeping" buck spoke softly
" well not anymore thanks to you" Jessie mumbles, Gentilly rubbing the sleep away from her eyes
"sorry jess, but what are you doing here anyways"
" its fine, but I'm here because I woke up at three and I couldn't sleep so I headed here early"
" jess you should be at home sleeping instead of being at work" Bobby said with concern
"I'm fine Cap don't worry, ill be able to work just fine" jessie tried to convince him, he looked at her skeptically before breathing out a hard breath
" fine, but if I see you even slightly dosing off ill send you home, you hear me"
"sir yes sir" jess says in a jokingly matter as she giggles and scurries off the rest of the team comes in
"what was jessie doing here so early" hen asks
" she couldn't sleep apparently" Athena says
" 'thena what are you doing here" hen asks
" well it was my day off and Michael has the kids so I decided to come and spend the day at the station" Athena explained just as they were going to continue their conversation someone interrupted
"excuse me I'm sorry for interrupting but does jessie Lawbrooke work her" the man asks
"Yes, why what can we do for you" Bobby said a little confused and jealous why this man was looking for jessie
"Holy Crap Dylan is that you" jessie asked from behind, making everyone turn to her
