Jasmine POV
"Thanks for letting me sleep over. I think I would have ended up strangling Mario in his sleep if I stayed there last night." I said as I sat on the couch across from him.
"No problem. We were friends before anything so I'm always going to be here for you." he said, making me smile.
"Thanks Xavier." I said. "So how has everything been going for you?" I asked him.
"Well, your brother is my boss again. He owns the car dealership I work at."
"I hope he's not being rude to you because of what happened."
"He just made it known that he doesn't like me or respect me. Other than that, he treats me like any other employee." he said then shrugged.
"That's better than nothing I guess. Especially coming from him." I said.
"So, you ready to talk to me about the trouble in paradise?" He asked, giving me his undivided attention.
"There really isn't anything to say. Both of our tempers have been very high these past few days and there's things he wants that I don't agree with and things I want that he doesn't agree with. So that ends up with one of us getting an attitude and the other person pissed off. It's just to much and I really just want to smack the shit out of him but I'm not about to lay hands on him over petty shit."
"Sounds like you guys need to actually communicate. Y'all are getting mad at each other like as if you can't talk to one another. Communication is the base of a relationship in my opinion."
"That's the thing, we can't talk to each other! He's fucking stubborn as shit and always finds flaws in everything I say. He always wants to be right and that's the problem." I said then threw my head back on the couch.
"I know you Jasmine. I know you can be very...soft spoken and a pushover at times so you should try to stand your ground and actually get your point across. Me and Mario use to be like brother so I know how he is. You just have to find a way to meet a happy medium with him." he said.
"Thanks for the advice Xavier. I appreciate it. You're a good friend." I said. We both stood up and I gave him a tight hug.
"Alright, now get up out my house cause I got to get to work." he said, pushing me away.
I laughed as I slipped on my converse. I grabbed my bag and keys before leaving out.
.....................
"Mommy!" Loriana ran to me right when I opened the door.
"Hey baby girl." I said. I bent down and have her a hug and she kissed my cheek.
"I missed you. You didn't put me to bed last night. That made me mad." she said frowning.
"I'm sorry baby girl. How was school?" I asked.
"Good. I just read for the day but then the teacher took my book away because I wasn't paying attention. Then she told daddy when he picked me up." she said.
That teacher of hers is a price of work. I don't like her because she's always saying my child is doing something wrong even though Loriana is harmless.
"Look who remembered they have a family." I looked away from Loriana and to Mario who came up behind her.
"I couldn't stay here last night or else I would have killed your ass." I snapped back.
"Lori, go upstairs." Mario said. Loriana sighed and went up the stairs. "So where were you at all day?"
"Wow, did your security not tell you where I was? How surprising." I said with sarcasm laced through my voice.
