In the bay of the Elysium Sea, land of the Llieva Palace, there's a siren who has a lovely and alluring voice that attracts anyone who hears it. Every night, when the two lucent full moons start to shine their bright with the stars, the siren will start to sing a song, and no one could ever resist or escape the enticement that her voice has.
It is the first night of spring, and the wild waves from the sea have started to calm. The water becomes so clear as crystal that you can almost see the sea's deepest part.
A few moments later, a beautiful half-fish-tailed maiden rose up from the water to take a rest on the rocks. The half-human part of her body is covered with her long, black, shiny, and silky hair. It tipped into the ocean like crystal, which made the water shine. Her tail is designed with the finest diamonds, corals, and other sea treasures, which makes it more elegant and prettier to see.
She looked up in the sky, her deep pair of ocean eyes full of longing and desolation. It glimmered with pain and loneliness. Despite the beauty she has, she still feels a lack in her heart that she badly wants to fill with love. The pure one and not just a love out of lust.
Through the pain and the grief she feels, she starts to sing her favorite song that she has been singing ever since she was young.
"Oh, starry night,
Oh, lovely moon, so bright...
How lonely my life could ever be?
If only I had someone beside me...
And love me, wholeheartedly..."
There, right after she sang, a big and eerie ghost ship suddenly stopped in front of her. A ghost in his 30s appeared at the ship's railing. He has two large boxes of treasure on his left and another two on his right.
"Beautiful lady of the sea, I was busy sailing when I accidentally heard your lovely voice. I got fascinated, so I'm here to replace your sorrows with glee," the ghost said.
Syren smiled at him and said, "I want a lover who has a pure heart. Tell me what you can offer me in exchange for my heart."
The ghost answered. "I can give you all my wealth and this ship. We can sail together to every place you want to go. Just tell me where it is."
Syren felt disappointed by his answer. She doesn't need the wealth; she already has it under the sea. Besides, she can't go anywhere. Water is the only way for her to breathe. It's her life.
And just like that, she rejected the ghost's offer and dove herself again into the water, leaving the poor ghost.
The second night of spring At the same spot where she used to rest her tail under the bright sky filled with stars, she starts to sing again.
"Oh, starry night,
Oh, lovely moon, so bright...
How lonely my life could ever be?
If only I had someone beside me...
And love me, wholeheartedly..."
There, right after she sang, a young, lean, and muscular vampire suddenly appeared in front of her. Syren doesn't seem shocked to see a vampire standing in front of her. Maybe because she used to see vampires before. She used to be friends with them, especially those who lived near the bay.
But then, in spite of her kindness towards them, they all just leave her behind like trash after depleting all the sea's treasure. One of the reasons why she hates vampires now.
"Beautiful lady of the sea, I was just passing by, but, then I accidentally heard your lovely voice. I got fascinated, so I'm here to replace your sorrows with glee," the vampire said as he handed Syren a bunch of primroses.
Syren smiled politely at him and said, "I want a lover who has a pure heart. Tell me what you can offer me in exchange for my heart."
The vampire answered. "I can give you everything you want. I'm a prince from the palace of Elysium. Just name it, and I'll give it to you in a snap. I'll soon reign over our kingdom. And once I become king, I'll make you queen. We will reign over the whole of Elysium together."
And for the second time, Syren felt very disappointed by the vampire's answer. She's the Queen of the Sea. She doesn't need a kingdom because she already has one.
Without any words, Syren dives again into the water, leaving the poor vampire behind.
As the night of spring passes by, Syren's voice still keeps on attracting different creatures. There are wolves, merfolk, fairies, and even, at times, angels. They're all giving her different offers, but she just keeps on rejecting them all. She thinks that no one has a pure heart, and the one who can suit her personality.
So, she stopped coming to the bay for a week just to calm her mind from thinking too much. She doesn't want to lose all her hopes-that she'll never find someone who has a pure heart and that she'll remain alone forever.
Until the last night of spring, Syren missed the bay so much that she decided to visit the place again.
Unexpectedly, everything became strange to her as she sat on the rocks where she used to rest. The moon and the stars were covered by the thick, black clouds. The breezes become a gale that can almost blow out the roots of trees. The waves are still wild, no matter how hard she tries to calm them.
She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath, preparing herself to sing her favorite song. Hoping that it will help calm the sea. She let her long, silky hair be blown by the strong wind as she set her palms straight on the waves, and then she started singing...
"Oh, starry night,
Oh, lovely moon, so bright...
How lonely my life could ever be?
If only I had someone beside me...
And love me, wholeheartedly..."
There, right after she sang, the two lucent full moons together with the stars showed up again. The gale stopped and was replaced again by the cold breezes. Slowly, the waves become calmer as the minutes pass.
"If I hadn't seen you now, I would have planned to dive under this fucking sea just to find you." Syren heard an unfamiliar voice behind her.
She turns around to find out where the voice came from, but she sees no one. She looked around, still trying to figure out who owned the voice, but she really couldn't find it.
"W-who... Who are you?" She asked, her voice trembled because of the sudden grief she felt. "Please don't hide yourself. I want to know who you are."
After saying those words, a beautiful, fine-looking man with sensual eyes suddenly appeared in front of her. She got stunned because of how austere he looks, but, then became soft as his eyes landed on her blushing face.
Syren couldn't help but roam her eyes over the man's half-naked body. His eight-pack abs and his vline scream of so much luminosity in her eyes-like an enchanting spell-that it made her body shiver with heat. She gulped and just looked up at his horn, then at the sword he was holding. He looks like a knight ready to start a war.
In her one thousand years of existence, she had already seen a lot of different faces, but only this creature gave her the strange tingling feeling just by looking into his eyes.
"Tell me... who are you?" Syren asked, and luckily, she didn't stutter.
The man plastered a devilish smirk on his lips as she met her eyes. "I'm Lucifer, the God of the underworld."
His answer made Syren shudder. And with fear in her eyes, she spoke to the devil again. "Then, what are you doing here? Did you just leave your kingdom for me? Are you also here to ask for my heart?"
Lucifer chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm not here to take your heart. I'm here to give you mine. Accept it or not, it will always be for you." In just a snap, like lightning in the sky, the devil held her cheeks for a quick kiss. "Only for you, baby..."
