Y/n stepped through the broken glass doors of the abandoned kindergarten, over rotting splinters of wood and chunks of glass. He had taken an interest in the place after hearing about the strange mascots and sudden shutdown. He found a few keycards as he walked through the place, stopping in a large playground room, the plastic tubes were dusty and there were cobwebs in most of the equipment. Y/n was nearly about to leave the room when he spotted a ...bird?

Its yellow beak was tucked under one of it's large purple wings, there appeared to be tear stains on it's face. It was laying on a nest, with one blue egg in the crook of it's wing. You decided to look around again, and you found more blue eggs, there were a few in the old plastic tubes, one under the reception desk, and two in a half open locker.

You brought the eggs back to the sleeping bird, gently placing them down in the nest. The bird's eyes snapped open, red irises filled with fear and anger. You sprinted down the hallway as an enraged screech echoed from the hallway behind you. You jumped into the abandoned elevator without a second thought as the platform descended.

The screeching of the bird, who you recalled was referred to as 'Opila' in the garten's old website, was getting more and more distant. For a second, you foolishly believed you could let your guard down, which was proved to be a terrible idea when a giant green paw grabbed onto the side of the platform. Another large paw grabbed onto the platform as a large bear-like creature attempted to haul itself up onto the platform.

You begun to panic as the old metal of the elevator platform warped under the weight of what was presumably 'Jumbo josh'. The metal groaned as the elevator began to tip to the side, revealing the Jumbo Josh himself, peering up at you with large blue eyes. You couldn't see much of Opila before, but seeing Jumbo Josh, you could tell that years of scarce food, if any, had taken their toll.

These mascots, allegedly created from the substance givanium, were described as highly resilient, although the forums you could find about the garten claimed that no creature could possibly still be alive after 10 years of abandonment. Jumbo was visibly emaciated despite his bulky stature with his ribs clearly visible and his legs shaking as he stood.

You were shocked that Jumbo wasn't outright attacking you right now. With a final screeching groan, the elevator fell and you were immediately grabbed by a paw. You couldn't see much, but Jumbo must've been standing on a ledge judging by the delay before Jumbo and the elevator hit the ground.

You crawled out from under the giant green paw, Jumbo had ...saved you? Why would he do that when he was in such a weak state? Neutrality was one thing, but saving you was another, either way, Jumbo wasn't moving now, and there was definitely no way you could move him. You'd have to search for another way back up to the surface level of the building, luckily there was a metal ladder nearby leading to a room.

You contemplated as you walked down the hallway, Jumbo resembled a bear, so maybe he had some kind of fat stored like bears did? It would make since considering that he was still quite bulky by default. You couldn't see much of Opila, but her face had seemed rather gaunt, and unlike most birds, she was cold, cold enough to mistake for a statue.

You felt a presence behind you, as if someone was watching you. "Hello, I'm Seline. Who are you?" You turned around so quickly that you nearly got whiplash. In front of you stood a large snail, Seline. Like Opila and Josh, Seline was visibly thinner than usual, with skin stretching over her ribs and the hip bones separating her torso and tail jutting out. Her stalk eyes were staring directly at you.

"H-hello Seline, I'm Y/n." You said nervously, unsure of her intent. "Hmm.... Wait! You're not a mascot!" Her tone suddenly shifted to anger, as if she had been deceived. You immediately began sprinting down the hallway, Seline was deceptively fast, and she was gaining on you by the second until a white paw swiped you from around the corner.

You were pulled into a room and immediately fell over, a pale mascot, Banbaleena, leaned over you. "I'm so glad you could make it to my lesson! I'm overjoyed to have a new student!"
