Next Day
I decided to skip breakfast this morning, and head straight to my office to finish off the stack pile of work I still had to be done.
It's not easy being Queen, and it did not make it better that some of the Elders thought it wise that I should marry, so the man can take some of the load off my shoulders, but it's not necessary.
The same way a man can be Alpha and lead his pack with dignity and respect so can I.
Opening my door, I pause when I see X'cya and Mickiyah sitting on the sofa, with breakfast on the coffee table.
Shaking my head, I walk in closing the door behind me.
"How is it that you girls always-""Know you're not going to do something that you know your suppose to do?"
"It's a friendship thing." Mickiyah states, shrugging.
"Come eat and then you can work.""I'll eat later girls. I have a lot of work to do today, and before Elder Shawn suggests marriage again because I'm backed up on too much work, let me do it." I sit down in my chair, looking over what to start with first. I see the envelope from yesterday and I pick it up, only for X'cya to take it from my hands again, and rest a plate of pancakes and eggs in front of me.
"Eat." I glare up at her.
"X'cya."
"Eat. I'll read it for you." She says opening it up. Giving up, I pick up the fork, taking a piece of pancake into my mouth. Moaning in delight.
The kitchen staff always did so great with the food.
"It's an invitation."
"To what?!" Mickiyah asks, getting up from the sofa and coming over to see.
"A ball." I look to her confused. Mickiyah looks at it, confirming what she said to be true.
"The Sliver Moon pack formally invites you to their Silver Ball." I freeze, staring at the two girls in complete shock.
"The dress code is Black tie and it's happening Friday at 8."The Silver Moon Pack. I hear Daisy say.
We haven't heard of them in years.Hmm.
I rest down my fork, feeling my appetite completely leave me. Wiping my mouth with a napkin, Mickiyah gushes over what she's going to wear.
"We're not going." I say standing to my feet. I walk over to them, taking the invitation from her hands and throwing it in the bin.
"Why not?!" X'cya exclaims, taking it out the trash. Mickiyah looking at me skeptically.
"It'll be-""We're not going!!" I raise my voice at her and they both freeze looking at me surprised. I pass my hand through my hair, sighing deeply
"I'm sorry for shouting at you girls, but I can't go back there." I admit, walking back to my desk.
"What happened to you girl? Screaming at us like that." Mickiyah says, putting her hands on her hips.
"I know." I groan in frustration.
"Remember how I told I guys I met Queen Caroline?""Yeah." They say at the same time.
"Well I was running from my old pack."
"Why?" X'cya asks looking concerned.
"My mate rejected me." I say looking down sadly.
"He's most likely Alpha now I'm sure.""Oh now we're going for sure." X'cya says, folding her arms.
"X'cya."
"No no no. Don't X'cya me. You have to go."
