[name] couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had gone to Rue's to help her with his friends and girlfriend when she revealed Cassie had been sleeping with Nate.
The words made a cold wash over his body and he turned his head to look at Cassie who had already started crying. "Please tell me it's not true."
She whimpered. "N - No! Of course not! She's lying!"
But no matter how much he wanted to believe her, he didn't. "I can always tell when you're lying, Cass." He said softly.
"Rue, when was this?" Maddy cut in, pointing her finger at the girl who had already started to sweat.
"Around New Years Eve."
Another knife to the heart. "That was months ago." He said, his eyes narrowing into a glare. "You've been cheating on me for months?!"
"[name]! Please..." Cassie suttered, not knowing what to say. He tried to leave but she ran after him and grabbed his arm. "Don't leave! Just don't leave! Let me explain, I can tell you what happened. Once I tell you what happened you'll understand - "
"I'll understand? Are you insane?" He ripped his arm from her hold. "You think anything you say can make things better? There's nothing that's going to make it right."
Even though he said that, she still tried. "I - I was feeling so alone. You were always busy and I thought you were going to break up with me! I - If I knew you weren't going to... I never would have done anything!"
"Oh, really?" [name] said with a fake smile. "So, all these months you've been fucking him, you thought I was going to break up with you? I wasn't giving you enough attention? So, it's my fault you did this. My fault you cheated on me and my fault you slept with your best friends ex?" He scoffed, his eyes shining with disgust.
"No! That's not what I'm saying!" Cassie shook her head and let out a sob. "I just - I just - "
"Just stop." He shook his head. "I don't want to talk to you, I don't want to see you. Lose my number because I am done with you. And I hope you are really happy with Nate Jacobs Cassie because he's going to fuck you over in the end and then you'll have no one."
He looked at her one last time before leaving but she continued to call his name and beg him to stop. She would have run after him but Maddy appeared behind her with fire in her eyes. "I'm going to kill you!"
