"W-What?" Kamari looked at Evelyn, or Demeter, with wide eyes

"W-What?" Kamari looked at Evelyn, or Demeter, with wide eyes. I felt my glasses slide down my nose as I looked at the woman who we'd originally figured was a 30-something-year-old woman, rather than a goddess- let alone our mother.

"Did I stutter, child?" Demeter said. The air around her shimmered a green glittery haze, and her form changed to a woman with wavy blonde locks and light green eyes, like mine and Kam's. My blood ran cold as I realized that she was here, and not Mt. Olympus.

"M-Mom?" I whisper out, not knowing exactly how to react. Demeter turned to me. "Wait, if you're Demeter...than who is Sarah?" She laughed. She smelled like fresh bread. It was oddly comforting. "Sarah is Hebe, my brother and sister's child and the goddess of youth."

"Oh...so...two goddesses?" Kam's voice was a bit shaky. Neither of us thought we'd even meet Demeter. We always figured it would have been dangerous, like we were told so many times before.

We were told that our mortal parent was the most we would get. The thing is: Our mortal father was killed many, many years ago. When we were just infants, to be more specific. He was kidnapped, and according to authorities, there was no way he could have escaped. There was no sign of escape. Of course, if there had been, he would be with us right now and we wouldn't have to worry about this right now.

Demeter's eyes scanned the cloudy sky with a serious look on her face. She clearly wasn't in a very happy mood. My fingers twisted around each other, and I pulled my skin from my hand nervously. I looked at Kam, who was tapping her foot against the ground, and shot her a look that said: What's happening?

Kamari watched our mother curiously, as if imagining what words would come from her mouth next.

Thunder rumbled, and Demeter sighed. "Children, I need you to listen to me, and listen carefully. You are very important demigods, and you need not to take the negative energy from those campers. You must learn to control your powers and learn to use weapons. You must train with the mindset that you must become as powerful as possible. I do not have much time, so I'm going to need you to understand this: You might not know it just yet, but you are both crucial for the survival of Olympus."

Before either of us got to say anything, Demeter and Hebe vanished. Demeter turned into a green glow, while Hebe exploded in a pink haze. Kamari's chicken strip dropped onto her plate.

"So...that...really just...happened?" Kamari's words were spaced out as she spoke. I hadn't expected such an event to happen. "What did she mean by 'crucial for the survival of Olympus', aren't the gods immortal?" I questioned. Kam sighed and looked out the window before picking up her chicken strip and dipping it in ranch and taking a bite. She wiped her mouth before speaking.

"I don't know, but whatever she meant, it's clearly very important"

"Yeah...but I don't understand. Why did she come all the way to Chicago to...warn us?"

"I don't know, Koen, but whatever the reason, we have to find out what she meant and get a hotel or something to stay the night at."

"Are we gonna finish our food first?"

"Of course we are, I'm not a maniac!" Kamari looked utterly offended by my question.

"My bad!" My hands were raised in defense as we took more bites of our dinner as the rain started pouring even harder.

This was going to be a long night.

We found a place. It was a simple hotel, and we got the room for free by making the manager feel bad for us.

I put my backpack in front of the brown leather sofa and looked around. It was a quite nice place to be honest. Sleepiness filled my eyes, and I walked over to one of the brown bedsheet and pillowed beds before plopping down upon it. Kam walked to a desk and pulled out her laptop, probably to do research.

I felt my eyes closing, and I let a deep slumber wash over me. My limbs became limp, and my mind went blank as I fell into my sleep.

Yeah, so this is definitely a shorter chapter, but I'm tired so...don't blame me okay?
