Esther came running in the emergency room, clutching the strap of her purse, looking for her sister. "Mina!" She shouts her name.
"I'm here!" Esther found her sister waving her head and she approaches her. "What the hell happened?! Are you okay?!" Esther's eyes the cast on her foot and arm.
"A drunk driver ran into me, but I'm fine." She chuckles.
"Fine!? When I got that called, I thought of the worse!" Esther grabs a stool and she sits down.
"I'm guessing law enforcement made the call more dramatic than it needed it to be. The asshole tried to flee the scene but they caught her immediately." Mina says. "I'm just pissed off that car is completely totaled. I just paid it off." She grumbles.
"That is what you're so worried about? Your insurance will cover it." Esther says.
"But I loved that car. She was my very first car that I brought with my own money." Mina sighs. "At least I'm getting a new one though. By the way, where's Jake? Is Baekhyun with him?" Mina asks.
"Jake is with Aunt Lee." Aunt Lee is their father's sister.
"Why is he with Aunt Lee? Where's his father?"
"Baekhyun hasn't been answering or responding my calls or texts. Supposedly, he had a meeting the board of directors." Esther says.
"Those types of meetings take forever. Don't get so worked up or your anxiety is gonna consume you." Mina says.
"I know, but he has his phone turned off and he never does that."
"Probably something happened to his phone." Mina says.
"Just wait and if he doesn't answer in a couple of hours, then you have the right to get angry at him when you see him." Mina says.
Esther slight smiles. "When are they gonna release you?"
"Tomorrow morning." Mina says.
"How long are you gonna wear those casts?"
"For 8 weeks or so."
"I'm just so glad you're alive." Esther unexpectedly hugs Mina, leaving her stunned but also felt loved by her warming embrace.
~The next day~
"Did it hurt?!" Jake asks.
"It was nothing!" Mina says. "The best part is that I get to miss work for the next two weeks without getting in trouble from my boss!" She chuckles. "And I still get paid!"
"As you should!" He says and Mina bursts into laughter. "I wish you nothing but the best Aunt Mi." Jake sits next to her on the couch.
Mina and Jake were downstairs chatting while Esther was pacing in circle in her room as the phone call kept sending her to voicemail.
"That's it! I'm not waiting around anymore!" She grabs her purse, marching down the stairs. "Watch Jake for me! I have a certain someone to scold!"
