In the week up coming to his father majestic funeral shikamaru worked his troubles away. He made sure to keep his mind busy enough that it didn't wonder off and think about his troubles. Butnthat didn't stop the consistent nightmares that consumed his dreams every night.

It was all the same nightmare. He and his father was fighting and he yelled at his father telling him that he hated him. His father looked hurt but didn't say anything on that matter. His father just said sorry and walked away. Then when shikamaru left he heard his mother yelling. When he ran to see what was wrong he saw his father limp in his mother's arms.

Every step he tried to take to get closer to her caused her pain and to get sick. Tears fell down his face freely. He had no control over his body, he kept on with his steps to get closer to his parents. But when he finally reached them his mother had blood coming out her mouth. She too fell limp on the floor.

He ran to her, carefully holding her with all his might. He couldn't loose his parents he couldn't take it. So he calls for help but by the time the ambulance comes to help his mother is already dead. But left him with her dying words of this is all your fault. Those words rung through his body, poisoning his mind.

With that he wakes up in a sweat panting. Tears also running down his face. He knew he would never get the chance to apologize to his father, and his father died knowing his son hated him. But most of all shikamaru would never get to know what his  father truly felt. A letter didn't mean shit. Writing was as simple as lying it had no emotions in it what so ever.

He needed to hear his father say he loved him, say he excepts his apology. But that time would never come, because he died with no words for him, he died leaving their fight unresolved. So that letter saying he knew shikamaru didn't mean anything was bullshit and didn't help him.

Anger was all he felt. There was no longer any sadness. How could there be? His father had the chance to fix their relationship before he died. He knew his time was coming and he was going to die. But instead of talking, he cowardly and wrote everything down. He was furious.

Today was no different than the other days he's been living since his father died, his tears dried and now the most he could do was make his father proud. He took a shower and got dressed. He made himself a green smoothie for breakfast. By the time he was finished drinking that it was 9am.

Right on time for his driver to arrive to take him to work. He grabbed his briefcase and left out his house locking his door on the way to the car. The driver drove him to his mother's house. He tipped the guy then walked inside. There was ino, inoichi and tsunade. Why was they here? To ambush him?

He sat down farthest to everyone as possible. "Son, we have decided to have you have a therapy session with these two yamanakas. We need to see where your mental health is at." Yoshino quietly stated. Shikamaru nodded his head. Now it all made sense. If tsunade thought he wasn't fit they would take him off of work.

But this also gave ino a chance to get closer to him. If he was vulnerable and she helped him through, they hoped they would fall in love and marry. Which would knock two birds with one stone. But he didn't want her. No infact he didn't want any her. All he wanted was him.

"Fine. Let's get this started." He ordered smoking a cigarette. His mother gave him a face of worry. Since he started smoking his parent made sure to monitor his daily intake of those poisons. "Shikamaru how do you really feel about the death of your father?" Ino asked.

He only rolled his eyes jumping into the big question like that was bold. "I feel the same how any son would feel if their father died." He simply answered. Taking a puff of the cigarette in his hand. Tsunade looked at him. The bags under his eye told a different story.
