" Are you sure of what you speak? "

" Yes father, I saw men, not from our village... Me and juyi were  chasing a herd of ostrich and this men captured them, we hid as soon as we saw them" said Sari , who speaks to a man sited with crossed legs in the dark corner of their abode.

" Did you get a clear view of how they may look like?" Sari's father asked curiously.

" Yes father, they wear their hunts, just like us,but  something caught my eyes " Sari paused, confused, not quite sure if what she is about to say is indeed what she saw.

" it's well my daughter, do not be afraid to tell me " Sari felt calmed by her father's words . So she replied.

" Father, their flesh" she started slowly " carry tribal marks...just as...yours"

"What?  Time froze for Sari's father "  ...it cannot be" Astounded by his daughters words he felt his heart beat louder than banging drums.

Upon  a dark cold night, the Daka tribe rejoiced their hunt. They feast with joy. Hunger they felt no more. Truly they have found a land of hope. But still, fragile hearts remain traumatized. It's only a matter of time before evil will come crawling back. Maybe this time more powerful, maybe this time, they wouldn't be any survivors. Although the  land birthed precious and satisfying hunts. It lacked water, hunters did not seek  further enough. Another mission to be taken  the  next day.

Rico sat next to his father, where a bon fire provided warmth.

" It was amazing father, you should have seen how stupid Yaka looked when he saw the ostrich collapse in front of him" Rico laughed.

" He was like-" Rico stood up in front of Haidi to imitate The king's expression. "How, what?" The funny facial expressions Rico made, caused Haidi to giggle.

Rico was overwhelmed with joy that he didn't realize how loud he spoke.

King Yaka laughed in his abode. He couldn't help hearing Rico bragging about what happened earlier.  King Yaka could just walk out and claim  that he let him have the kill and ruin Rico's blossomed joy. But the truth is...he didn't.
Even the king was surprised when he saw That the hunt was taken down by Rico. He felt Proud of the young man  and somehow- a little bit embarrassed.
As his own words where used against him.

The king laid down on his back. He closed his eyes. Meditating, going deep into his thoughts, maybe they might be of help,  Help to answer his questions-questions  that have been roaming recklessly in his mind.... questions about... Haidi.

He slowly placed his hand on his chest, as he slowly inhaled the cold air. His eyes as they remain closed, see nothing but darkness Expecting a spark of answers. Answers that were resisting to be exposed.  Everything seemed to cease but his curiousity. How it left him astray as no answers appeared. The king stood up with a sigh, as he thought to himself that maybe he is just being paranoid, He has more important things to place his focus on. Such as the evil that buries itself where it awaits the right time to attack. Although where the tribe settled promised safety. The king still had doubts on having a long term settlement at one specific area.

Later that same night, The tribe slept, like infants waiting only to be woken by the light of sunrise. Even the warriors participated. The warriors rested a little bit far from their abodes, in hopes that nothing abysmal will occur anytime soon.

How unwise of them. As the enemy lurking in the dark took  advantage, of their careless act.

Loud Howling began  behind the trees, hidden in the dark, like predators, it fails to expose itself . But only eyes could lit from the dark like antelopes.
