Playing with fire was always forbidden when I was a child. I thought it was a bit unfair. How come my mother could stand next to the stove and play with the fire while I got to stand at the far end and watch? Maybe if I got to experience fire as a child, I would've never been so curious to feel it as an adult.

"Found anything?" Tom asked.
"Not much. Just that their parents are in other countries, and they've been raised by their grandfather since they were one." I explained.
He nodded.

Me and Tom are two detectives sent by our lieutenant as an undercover to gather as much as information possible. We want to take down this mafia group once and for all. They are the most dangerous ones so far. It took us months to convince Alberto that we are "trustworthy" so he would let us live with them. And that's why I'm Riley, and Tom is Adam in this house.

"What about you? Did you find anything?" I asked Tom.
"Not yet."
Silence.
"Well, I better go. It's better if they don't catch us whispering all the time." He said.
"Yeah okay." I nodded.
And like that, Tom left.

I still had some time to kill until dinner, so I decided to give the library a visit.
"Oh hey Riley." Hazel said once she saw me in the hallway.
"Hey. Hazel, right?" I asked.
"Correct." She said giggling.
"I was going to the library. Want to join?" I asked.
"I wish I could, but me and Chloe are having a sleepover with our friends." She responded.
"Oh. It's okay. Maybe next time." I said smiling kindly at her.
"For sure." She smiled and walked away.

Poor kid. I started walking again and I hit a rock? Oh ... no it was a person. Niall to be exact.
"Sorry." I muttered.
"Where you off to?" he asked.
"To the library."
"Are you really the daughter of my grandfather's associate?" he blurted.
"Yes." I replied confidently.
"Hmm." He hummed unconvinced.

No wonder Alberto wants him to sit on his seat after he passed away. Although there will be no seats once we're done here.

"Forget the library." He said.
I gave him a confused look.
"Let's go for a drive." He said. More so commanded.
"Excuse me?"
He rolled his eyes.

"Do you always roll your eyes?" I asked.
"Do you always need to hear things twice?" He barked back.
"I meant why to go for a drive. Where to?" I asked.
"Because I say so. And I'll decide once we're in the car."
"You want to murder me?" I blurted. I know I was a detective, but I genuinely was terrified of him. Tom says he kills without remorse, and he tortures with joy.

He smirked at my question leaning forward causing my breath to get stuck in my throat.
"How about we find out on our way?" he whisper-asked. For a criminal, he smells amazing. Looks good too. What did I just say?
I gulped. He stood straight.

"Meet me outside in ten minutes." He ordered and left.
I let out a deep breath and walked back to my room. I'm not crazy I swear, I just want to gain his trust so we could proceed with our plan. Even if I have to get myself killed.

As I grabbed my clothes from my closet, I heard a thump causing me to get startled. I held my breath and walked from the blind spot slowly.

"Holly! You scared the shit out of me!" I said realizing it was Tom.
"Sorry."
"I thought you left. What are you doing here?"
"I left my coat. And I accidentally broke the vase." He said with a sheepish smile.
"It's fine." I smiled back.

"Where are you going?" he asked noticing my clothes.
"This jackass told me to join him for a drive."
"There are a lot of jackasses here. Which one are you referring to?"
"Niall." I laughed at his words.
"Why though?"
I shrugged.
