Wake Up

Alux awoke with a start. He looked around to see he was in someone's home. Just then he heard a voice.

"Mom, dad. The dead guy's alive!"

Alux looked to see a small boy run off to the left. Then a woman, presumably his mother, walked in.

"Oh, I am so sorry. Don't know what will come out of his mouth next. I'm Katie, nice to meet you. That there's my son, Leo. My husband Ben is out working on the field, and my daughter Mae is out right now."

"Oh." Alux said. Katie then looked at Alux's arm.

"What in the world is on your arm?!" Katie exclaimed.

Alux looked down. There was a black line around his wrist like a tattoo.

"I, I don't know. Wait, PETRO!" Alux yelled. He had forgotten about what happened at the cliff.

"Wow, wow, calm down. We'll worry about your friend later. Right now you need rest. I'll fetch you some fresh clothes to wear."

Katie left the room and Leo followed suit. Alux looked at his wrist. What is this? He was pretty sure he never got a tattoo. Is this dirt? Why isn't it coming off? Alux laid down on the bed. May as well get some rest. I'll look for you later, Petro.

WHAT ARE DOING YOU FOOL!

The voice in Alux's head seemed to have stopped responding. He was frantic for a moment before Katie entered the room.

"I brought you a pair of clothes my brother had. I'll leave it here so you can put it on. If you need me, I'll be making dinner with Mae. Any questions?"

"No, thank you ma'am."

"No problem, hon. I'll leave you to it."

Katie left the room to work on dinner. Alux stared at the pile of clothes left on the night stand. She's being too nice to me. She didn't have to do all this for me. Alux put on the clothes and decided to help her with dinner.
