It's late at night in Ketterdam. The only sounds that can be heard are the many bars, brothels and clubs. The same old times, some things never really change. Well, not in Ketterdam at least.
The Van Eck mansion is full with darkness. No light to be seen. Except the small light that could be seen from the dinner room., Wylan yawns and squeezes his eyes shut, trying to hold back how tired he really is. The table is filled with papers, all piled up and in a complete mess. The council left the room about 2 hours ago. Only Wylan was left to double-check everything and fill out a few more papers. He takes a deep breath and rubs his eyes hard out of exhaustion. The meeting may be over, but Wylan still has a lot of work to do. "Come on Wylan, just a few more papers.." He stretches his arms out and straightens his back. When he takes a better look at one of the files, his vision starts to become blurry and it's hard for him to focus on the letters. His hand starts to shake a little. He can't figure out what the words mean and it's making him all frustrated. The sudden feeling of his chest burning up made him breath heavy and he tries to open up his collar more to make the breathing easier. Wich sadly didn't seem to help. Wylan suddenly starts to hear his father's words in his head.
"your a failure of a son! You can't even read one stupid sentence! Your such a disappointment! You will never inheritant my empire! Your no son of mine! No one loves you! Stop bothering me with you stupid nonsense, I don't care what ever you have to say!"
Wylan's eyes start to tear up but he tries to push it away. He bangs his hands against his head, trying to get h his father voice out of there.
" st-stop...get out of m-my head..get out, get out, get out! Leave me alone!" Wylan stands up and leans against the edge of table, grabbing it hard while he tries to steady his breathing. He shakes his head and closes his eyes in a attempt to have a better vision through all the tears in his eyes that were running down his cheeks.
" your not here..this isn't real. Your not here..pls get out...pls, pls, pls...please! Make it stop!!! " Wylan slams himself against the wall and goes to sit down in tears. He pulls his knees up against his chest and buries his head into it, like he did when he was a little kid.
He sat there for at least 20 minutes, making ugly sobs and his tears still running down from his cheeks to ground beneath him. He hated how much influence his father still has on him, even tho he isn't around to torment Wylan even more like he did all those years before. Jan Van Eck made his son feel like a failure, trash, a disgrace, a idiot. He was a nobody
Eventually, Wylan decided to get up and tries to control his breathing now that he is standing straight. "remember what Jes told you..breath in, breath out..." he tried and tried and tried but it seemed like nothing worked to get his thoughts out of his head. Out of anger, Wylan slammed both of his hands on the table and trew all of the paper work against the wall. As if that wasn't enough, Wylan flipped the table over and placed himself in the middle of the room. He felt he could nothing but scream his anger out. Wich he did, screaming at the top of his lungs like there was no one in the world who could hear him. The screams eventually turned into silent sobs. The merchant can't believe that he let's his father get the best of him by just thinking about his past. When he finally has control over his breathing again, Wylan covered his mouth when he realized what he did.
