To say you were surprised when you woke up to fire and ash was definitely an understatement.

You laid down next to one of the Hilichurl structures, the smokey scent of burning wood and flesh filling your nose the second you awoke from your slumber. You gagged a bit.

Next, you had noticed that the Mitachurl you had slept next to last night was very much gone. Thankfully, the anemo slime was still huddled underneath you.

But . . why was it shivering and shaking? Was it scared? There's nothing to be afraid of right now. Right? Wrong.

Finally, you realized that your skin was burning. Fire swarmed the camp, spreading quickly and getting dangerously close as the flames just barely licked at your feet.

"Huh- HOLY SHIT!" You exclaimed with a look of shock on your face and abruptly stood up, and began to run away from the flames.

The anemo slime followed right after, landing on your head and snuggling into your hair for protection.

You had trouble breathing from all the flames. You coughed and wheezed as you ran out from the gates of the camp, tears forming in your eyes from the ash.

Once you were a good distance away, you leaned onto a tree and desperately tried to catch your breath. The anemo slimed cooed at you in worry.

All the hilichurls were . . . dead, gone. The fire had killed them all, or perhaps had somebody slaughtered them?

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't know there was someone in the camp! Are you okay?!" A high pitched voice shrieked once she had seen your state.

You looked up and saw a flash of red.. and what had seemed to be a pair of bunny ears? Your eyes widened at the realization.

"A-Amber . . ?" You managed to croak out, the burning in your lungs and throat still lingering.

"Huh-?" She gave you a worried look, confused on how you knew her name. But she quickly pushed that aside and helped you stand.
