Chapter 1.The Battle

Percy POV(this story takes places in between the battle against Gaea)

This was the day, today we had to face Gaea and her children the giants, if i said i was scared, well that was an understatement.

The seven and me had gone through so much, the last couple of days, Anabeth and I had gone through Tartarus, but now we had to face the biggest and final challenge, we had to face Gaea.

What brought me out of my thoughts was yelling, I looked down from the ship and saw a sight of amazement.

On the left side there was an army of thousands, in the front of their lines there were giants and cyclops that formed a wall, after that there were hellhounds and dracaena , and at the last there were drakons.

On the other side was an army of hundreds, mixed with both roman and greek, and at the front of the lines there was Reyna, shouting orders to the front lines.

I called the others that we had to land quick, so Leo took out his controller and started pushing buttons, then after a few minutes, the ship landed.

The first thing I did was go to the front lines and ask about what happened, Reyna tolled me that the gods tolled them that the enemy forces were going to attack soon, so they started planning for the final battle.

I took a few minutes to take it all in, but then I asked Reyna where I should go, and she said me and the rest of the seven were going to be in the front leading the army.

We got into our positions and waited for awhile, but then suddenly I heard a loud war cry and saw that the enemy troops were marching towards us, me and Jason yelled a war cry and then marched forward toward the enemy army.

All my battle senses kicked in and all I did was slash and stab. All I saw was red, I formed a hurricane around my self and willed the weather to get stormy.

That's when I saw Jason flying overhead, he was calling down lightning bolts and killing masses of troops, that was when I saw hazel fighting three drakons, and barely able to hold them off.

I ran towards her direction and and cut the first drakon in the neck, I cut its wing, and then it disintegrated, me and hazel fought the drakon back and forth, we managed to disintegrate the second drakon, but then the third drakon caught me off guard and and managed to put a little cut on my thigh.

Hazel stabbed the monster in the heart, and it disintegrated, that was when I noticed the blood coming from my wound, it might not be fatal but it was hurting like hell, I quickly poured some water on the wound and drank some nectar.

Then I went back to fighting, i fought monster after monster, but more came in their place. That was when something amazing amazing happened, the Argo 2 came flying towards the enemy and started shooting at the enemy lines, soon only a couple of monsters were left, but that was when something drastic happened, the ground shook and in the middle of the battlefield stood a women with green eyes, Gaea.

The seven and I charged at the goddess, she summoned a spear of her own, and started fighting us, sometimes we had the advantage, sometimes her but that was the moment when she did something unforgivable, in one swift motion, she swung her spear at Anabeth.

I tried to stop the strike but before I knew anabeth fell and the ground was littered with blood, i charged the earth goddess with rage and fought her head on, I slashed and stabbed, that was when i hurt her fatally, i slashed riptide at her hand and her hand came clean off from her body.

She roared in pain and said"Perseus, you will pay for this", I still fought her with the same rage and then willed the ocean to wrap around her , then i willed the water to heat up, I could hear her screaming in pain.

I willed for the water to evaporate and then saw an enraged goddess with only one hand, I quickly started fighting again, This time I punched and kicked.

That was when I finally ended the fight by slashing at her neck, I decapitated her and she disintegrated.

I turned towards my friend and saw them with looks of awe, I ignored them and ran towards anabeth, I quickly checked her pulse and didn't hear anything,no beat, then the truth struck me she was dead.

That was when, I really just wanted to sit down and cry, cry for the next ten weeks, months, years, I wanted to do nothing , just nothing.

That was when I saw Hermes in front of me, he looked at me sadly and teleported me, the remaining seven, Nico and Reyna to the throne room on mount olympus.
