Akito Shinonome, the lead vocalist of Vivid Bad Squad, had been pushing himself to the limits lately. He had been spending countless hours in the studio, working on new songs and perfecting their sound. His bandmates had noticed the toll it was taking on him, but no one had the heart to tell him to slow down. That is, until his partner, Toya Aoyagi, decided enough was enough.
Toya had always been the glue that held the band together. He was the level-headed one who kept everyone in line and made sure they were all taking care of themselves. When he saw Akito working himself into the ground, he knew he had to step in.
One afternoon, after a particularly grueling recording session, Toya pulled Akito aside to talk to him.
"Akito, we need to talk," he said, his voice firm but gentle.
Akito looked up from his phone, his eyes tired and bloodshot. "What's up, Toya?"
"You've been overworking yourself lately," Toya said, his concern evident. "We're all worried about you."
Akito shrugged. "I'm fine. I just want to make sure our next album is perfect."
"But at what cost?" Toya asked. "You're not sleeping, you're barely eating, and you're pushing yourself too hard. You need to take a break, Akito."
Akito sighed, rubbing his temples. "I know, I know. But we have a deadline to meet, and I don't want to let the band down."
"You're not letting anyone down," Toya said. "We're a team, remember? We're all in this together. We can take a break and come back to it when we're all rested and refreshed."
Akito looked at Toya, seeing the worry and care in his eyes. He knew Toya was right. He had been so focused on making sure everything was perfect that he had forgotten to take care of himself.
"You're right, Toya," he said finally. "I need to take a break. Thank you for looking out for me."
Toya smiled, relieved. "That's what partners are for, Akito. We're in this together."
The two of them walked back into the studio, where the rest of the band was waiting. Akito announced that they were taking a break for the next few days to recharge and take care of themselves. The rest of the band cheered, grateful for the break.
As they packed up their instruments and headed out, Akito felt a sense of relief wash over him. He knew he had pushed himself too hard, but with Toya by his side, he knew he could get through anything. They were partners in every sense of the word, and together, they could conquer anything.
Canon.
