"Error you don't have to keep hunting for me." I say to my new mate. He scoffed and shoved the mouse in my mouth as I was about to talk again. "Do you really think your in any shape for hunting?" He asked. I looked down so I could spit out the mouse and eat it properly. I look at the dark pink raw stump where my front left leg used to be.

"Now normally I would drop you off back at your old owners house." He said. I look up at him a curious look on my face. "So why didn't you? To be honest from what you've told me I would have thought the moment you saw me you would have left me and let the crows and magpies have their way with me. Or dump me in the far side of the river near the large cliff and let it take me from there." I said.

Error looked at me like I just drowned a litter of kittens in front of their mother. "Don't make me regret not doing that house cat." He snarled, he walked away muttering to himself. I stand up shakily and go out to hunt, even if my leg is missing I still need to be a good mate and provide for Error. I crouch down and watch for any kind of prey or any sort of subtle movements.

Eventually a mouse came out of the bushes and I pounced. Pinning it down with my paw and killing it quickly. I keep hunting to see how good I can get in my current state. I keep hunting around and come back to a frantic Error looking for me everywhere. "Error?" I call to him. He runs over and hits me on the head.

"What we're you thinking!" Error scolded me. I grabbed the large leaf I was using to carry all of the mice I caught and showed them to him. "Your not the only one who can hunt Error. I can still do my share even if I'm missing a leg." I say with a smile. Error grumbled grabbed a mouse and walked back to our shared den.

I grab the leaf again and go to our den as well and try to make it up to Error. But all he would do was hiss and growl at me and act all sour. I cuddle with him and fall asleep feeling him start to groom me as I drift off.

When I woke up I decided to go for a walk around the forest for a little bit. I let Error know and he begrudgingly agrees, I head out and head to the river first to get a drink. But that's when I heard a faint mew from a rose bush over on the other side of the river. I manage to leap over to see if I could find what was making that small noise. I heard a rustle and more small news coming from the bush.

I go over, poke my head in the bush and see a white kitten with streaks of red and blue respectively. I pick it up by it's scruff and it struggles in my grasp trying to get away mewing for its mother. I place it down and see that it's only about maybe two or three weeks old. I lay down and start to groom it, making sure that I don't do it too hard so I don't hurt the kitten.

"I'm gonna take you to Error I'm sure he's gonna love you." I tell the kitten. I pick it up by the scruff again and start to walk home back to Error. But when I showed him the kitten his reaction was less than preferable. "No way! We are not taking care of a kitten! We just became mates and I'm not ready for one yet!" He hissed. I sigh and place the kitten down on the ground. "Alright alright we won't keep the kitten. But can we keep them here for a couple of days until I find a twoleg family for them to stay with until then?" I ask.

Error nods and walks away leaving me with the kitten. I pick the little kitten up and place it in the den I used to sleep in for safe keeping and to keep it away from Error. I head off out of the forest to go and find a cat who was willing to take in a kitten.

~——————————Error POV———————-~

I watch Reaper leave our little area leaving me with that kitten he found. And speaking of the kitten it began to meow loudly for food. I hissed at it but the noise didn't stop, but then I thought dawned on me. What if I just dump it in the forest and say that some twolegs came and took the kitten? That would work! But Reaper might try and find the kitten and then yell at me for lying to him.

I groan and go back to my den to wait out the annoying crying, but it just got worse! I groan and finally take the kitten to a nearby farm with a cow and let it drink its fill. When I finally stopped I took it back to my home and dropped it in the den Reaper left it in. I went to my den and fell asleep finally happy I could get some decent rest for once.

But when I woke up something smelled wrong. I went outside and saw a dog sniffing the den where the kitten was. Maybe if I let the dog take the kitten I can finally be free of this. But if it tears the kitten apart Reaper would be so sad, and he wouldn't be that happy house cat I love. So I suck it up and hiss and swipe at the dog keeping it away from the den. The dog luckily backs off and runs away yelping in surprise.

I go into the den and see the little kitten shaking on the ground looking like it's just seen a monster. Well I mean in it's little kind it probably has, that dog couldn't have been small to a kitten of this size. I wait in the the dean Reaper and I share for him to come back with some good news. "I'm sorry Error I couldn't find anywhere who would take the kitten I'll try the next town tomorrow." Reaper said as he cuddled next to me.

I groom him as he lays there and starts to purr. I chuckle as I watch him relax, but he says something that startles me a little. "Error? How would you feel about finding a random home with some kittens and dropping the kitten off there? Just the first one I find we can drop the kitten off at so you don't have to spend another day with them?" He says. I stop grooming him and wonder if what I actually heard was true.

"Reaper are you feeling ok? You never say stuff like that." I say. He nods and puts his head between his paws and yawns loudly. "Yeah I'm feeling fine Error I just know how much you don't like the kitten." He said his voice seeming distant and wistful. I lay down next to him and let out a loud yawn as well, the things my mate said swimming in my head. "I want to keep them!" I blurt out.

Reaper looks at me like I've lost my mind, and rightfully so. "Are you sure Error? You said yourself that your not ready for a kitten." Reaper stated. I nod and lay my head back down thinking of what I just said. "Well if your serious then what should we name them?" He asked. I fell asleep that question ringing inside of my head all throughout my dreams.

The next morning I had the answer and I think it's a name Reaper will like. "How about we name the kitten Extinction?" I say casually. Reaper nods and smiles, "I like that name." He said a smile on his face. "Extinction it is then my mate." I said feeling oddly proud at this. I go to the little den where Extinction is and I cuddle around him. Even if he's not our real kitten I'll try my best to make him feel like it for Reapers sake.

~——————————-Years Later———————~

Error and I watch Extinction as he gets ready to leave the thicket. I cuddle him one last time before he leaves and groom him just for good measure.

"Papa come on I'm a grown cat! I can take care of myself!" Extinction groaned. Error growled and bopped him on the head gently as a warning. I sighed as they got into a small tussle again, I swear they are just like eachother.

"Are you sure you want to leave Extinction? I mean sure your not a kitten anymore but Error and I would be happy if you wanted to stay!" I say. Extinction laughs and nuzzled me a smile on his face.

"I'm sure I wanna go Papa, I'm ready to be my own cat and find what awaits me out there." He said. I sigh and lick his head for good luck, I can't help but tear up as I watch him go. I stay there for as long as I can before our son disappears from view.

Error takes me back to the den and gets me a mouse which I happily take and eat. I'm glad that I followed him.
