It was 5 years ago.
5 years since she met Bill.
5 years since she got the Golden Snitch.
5 years since she became happy.
5 years since she considered her life perfect.
Ever since her dad died on a plane crash with his mistress, her mother started to despise her and see her in a different light. And her escape to the forest never happened again as she felt something eerie when she goes to the woods and never find her way to the same place again.
Jessica Coelho revealed Cordelia's past when the poor child was mourning for her dad. Cordelia was his mistress' daughter and Jessica thought he'd love her more if she treated the poor baby her own child but she was wrong. The cheating snake still continued his relationship with his mistress even though he promised he wouldn't when Jessica took Cordelia in.
The young Cordelia was confused, hurt and sad. She's feeling mixed up emotions that the girl didn't know what to do but to breakdown every minute.
Their house that once filled happiness felt like a prison. Her mother wouldn't allow her to go out, she wouldn't even give her the rights for education and stopped her schooling a year after her dad died.
"Your cheating father didn't leave enough money for the two of us, useless old bat. Why don't you go to your mother's family? Maybe they'll consider adopting you and take you out of my life!"
Her mother or not anymore would always wear expensive clothes and goes out of their house like nothing's wrong.
She felt like she would continue living like a rat, quietly walking inside her own home and eat small pieces of bread until she become 11, but that looked uncertain now that a letter was dropped on their doorway addressed to her. Maybe from a relative who knew her situation.
As her mother was gone to work in the city, she took the opportunity to open the letter but first her opal eyes read the ink at the back of the yellowish envelope;
Ms. C. Coelho
The room in the attic
Ottery St. Catchpole
Devon
Her eyes widened, how did this letter knew where she sleeps? The purple wax with four animals in it sealed the envelope.
Cordelia took out the letter and read it:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Warlock Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)
The titles sounded ridiculous that she didn't know if she was reading it right and the letter was a fake. Witchcraft and wizardy? The children in the village has incorporated their whole imagination in bullying.
She sighed and threw the letter in the garbage dump, dropping her hope of escaping too.
There was a slight sting on both of her cheeks making her look at the mirror across the stairs. There were bruises on her cheeks and her 'mother's' hands still marked on her neck, when she took in her appearance Cordelia saw what her mother saw in her.
