Lucas sat in his bedroom and cried. He wasn't even sure what he was crying about this time. Was it the girls? Was it his sister? Was it the fact that he killed a man over the weekend and now had to go to school and act like nothing had happened? Or was it simply teenage hormones? Regardless of what made him cry, he had to stop the flood of tears as he heard the bus outside.
"Shit!"
He bolted downstairs and struggled with his shoes for a bit before running out the door.
He ended up having to chase after the bus for three blocks before it stopped.
When he got on, he saw something he hadn't seen since his first day; Emily and Ashley were getting along. They were talking together about God knows what and they both looked up to greet Lucas.
"Hi guys." He hesitated a bit.
"Hey Lucas, how was your weekend?" Ashley questioned. "Stressful! Lots of homework!" Lucas responded defensively and a little too fast.
He looked over to Emily who was now on the phone with somebody. A boy.
-Oh-, Lucas thought, -was that why they weren't fighting anymore.- Whatever as long as they are still friends, that meant more to him.
"Who's that?" He asked slowly. "My cousin, Dylan." She giggled, "He is coming here to visit for a while!"
A sigh of relief fell on Lucas' lips.
His healing scabs began itching like crazy after a while so he scratched at them, hard. It stung and he winced. His sharp intake of breath caught the attention of both girls though only Ashley caught on.
"Oh, Luke, are you okay?" She asked. "Yeah, Ash, I'm fine" he tried to convince her but he knew she wouldn't buy it. Surprisingly, she didn't press on.
Finally, the trio arrived at school and each of them went to their separate classes for first period.
