As I layed there in bed I could hear my father and May-Long arguing over what had just taken place.
I could hear May-Long yelling about how I had no respect for her. And how I'll never get a decent husband if I continue to act the way that I do.
Just who the hell does she think she is?! That spoiled, whiney, golddigger knew nothing about me.
Eventually the fighting died down and the two of them departed to their bedroom for the night.
You figure that I'd finally be able to sleep right? Ha, fat chance of that happening.
Instead of hearing them arguing, I could hear the disgusting sounds of them being intimate with one another.
I gaged and knew there was no way I was just gonna lay there and listen to that.
So reaching under my bed, I grabbed my emergency backpack filled with everything I would need.
Snacks, water, a jacket, an umbrella, a thick blanket, and a knife for protection.
Putting it over my shoulders, I opened my bedroom window, leaped over the edge and ran towards the only place in the world where I found comfort. My mother's temple.
Although it was dark, and the wind kept blowing my black hair into my face, I kept walking until I finally reached my destination.
Mom's temple was beautiful, it was under a beautiful peach blossom tree, a small stream filled with colorful coy fish. And her headstone had a beautiful picture of her.
"Nǐ hǎo mama" I said with a bow before lifting an inscent and placing it over the headstone.
"May-Long went into another hissy fit, so just had to come see you. I miss you so much. If you were still here things would be so different...I hope our ancestors are taking good care of you... and I'm sorry I ran away from home again. But without you there..it's not a home."
With that said I reached into my bag, layed down the blanket and used my bag as a pillow.
"Goodnight mama, I love you" I said before dozing off and watching the inscent burn out completely.

About an hour later I awoke to the sound of a screech.
I sat up with a gasp and looked outside of the temple.
There didn't seem to be anything there. But suddenly something fell out of a nearby tree scaring me so much that I let out a small scream.
Putting my dear aside, I ran over to the tree and couldn't believe what I saw.
It was a small grey falcon with yellow eyes and pointy claws and a pointy beak. He was laying there on the ground with what seemed to be a peice of an arrow in his wing. The wing was bended and leaking crimson blood.
"Oh you poor thing" I said trying to pick it up. The falcon just screeched at me and tried to fly away. But with his painful wound he couldn't move.
"Shhh shhh it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. I want to help you" I said hoping he would trust me.
Eventually he stopped moving and let me take him into my arms.
"It's okay, we just gotta get the arrow out" I said to him before walking back to the temple.
Unaware that someone had been watching me the entire time...
