"What was that Irisa?" Aaron slammed the door shut. "Leave us," he said to a maid who scurried off quickly.

"I do not know what you speak of my lord," Irisa said innocently, angering Aaron more.

"Why did you decide to bring Agnes and Prince Donald back to the palace without my consent?"

"But I thought you consented? I mean there was no objection when I brought it up."

"Do not patronise me Irisa! I am already stressed as it is!" Irisa scoffed.

"Look, putting them in that manor will mlt look good on your reign, and threatening those ministers will not do that too, how do you want them to perceive you?"

Aaron scoffed, "It seems like you care more about my reign than myself, I mean every time we are together all you talk of is my reign! I am ruling already Irisa! We won!"

"Did we?" Irisa snapped at him. "Look..." she sighed, "I am already stressed as it is, all I do is for you, to make sure that your dream is not taken from you! That's why I sit in those long boring meetings! I do not want to be there but I must fulfil my duty to you and Kaley."

"But where does that leave us?!" he had to ask. Since he came back all she did was go against him, every step of the way.

"We are fine Aaron," she said unamused. "Are we? Because you seem hellbent on working against me."

"I am not working against you, Aaron! All I have done so far is for you! To make sure that you stay on that throne!"

"I do not need you to do that Irisa! Simply being here is enough!"

"Life does not work the way it works in your head! You cannot simply think that everything sails simply and easily for us! The throne is important..."

"But it is as important as us? Is it more important than our love?"

"I never said it was Aaron, we are fine and we shall remain fine. You should head back to the battle field your majesty, time is not on our side."

Aaron scoffed, "you are pushing me away, you do not want me here because you think I will harm the child."

"Aaron you went from our child to the heir, I have no choice but you plead your leave! Forget what I said, leave immediately, there far more impotant things to do than this."

"Far more important things to do than your child? When did you turn to do this Irisa? When did you turn blind?" Irisa shrugged.

"I am exhausted your majesty, I shall we see you tomorrow when you set out."

Aaron stared at his wife of a whole minute before shaking his head and walking out of the room, he needed a strong drink.

Mid night came and he stumbled into his room, drunk and exhausted, he mind went back to his stubborn wife wondering why she continued to defile instead of listening. The room was dark and it rained heavily outside, he came back thinking he would be in his wife's embrace but she was pushing him off.

She wanted him to go back to war, everything for Kaley. He has started to hate what he solely wanted. He fought his whole life to get the throne but he has it now, it seemed like a thorn on his back. He wondered when Irisa's thought started centering around the state and not hum anymore. Maybe her thought always did and he just never realised. Being too love stuck prevented him from even thinking of a lot of things.

He collapsed into the bed, feeling a presence next to him. He had found it weird that the lights were switched off but he knew Irisa was there. She was breathing faintly and softly, he could register her smell any day, even in his drunken state.
