"I'm going after her," Castillo said, helping his wife as she stood up. She was still shaking. She had been under the full weight of their daughter's power and was yet to recover.

"What was that?" Catherine asked him once again as if he knew the answer. She knew she sounded like a broken record but those grey eyes...she had seen those cold grey eyes up close. It was like staring into the eye of a terrible storm that threatened to swallow her up.

Truthfully Castillo couldn't think right now and he could tell that the one who was more confused was his beautiful girl who just ran off in dismay. "I don't know, my love." He rubbed her arms in a reassuring manner and hugged her, knowing his scent would calm his mate.

Catherine sighed. She knew she had been hard on the girl. She had been the one to provoke whatever power that was buried within her daughter's wolf. At least that proved one thing: her daughter was not weak. "Find her," she said giving him a little push.

Gaining his mate's permission, Castillo nodded and turned to his children. Chris was now holding his little sister who had dried tear streaks on her face. The girl was drowsy from emotional and physical stress. The pressure Claudia had felt was too much on her young body. "I'll go find your sister. Take the little one and your mother inside, Chris," he instructed his son and sprinted off in the direction that his daughter had gone.

Calissa ran for a while before stopping at the river far north of their land. She stopped and stared at her reflection in the water, her eyes still shone a stormy grey. The same colour that her wolf had. "What am I?" Truly, she couldn't make sense of what had just happened. Not only did her mother's voice and command to shift not work on her, she had felt irritated by it. The woman's pheromones that should have been a source of discomfort and fear for an Omega felt like a mere disturbance and further added to her irritation untill she exploded. She called her mother a pup. A pup!

'Yes, we did.'

Calissa scoffed. "As opposed to how my wolf looks?" She spat, openly engaging the voice in her head.

The voice hissed. 'There's a reason for that.'

"Oh yeah? Pray tell, what could that be?"

'I do not appreciate your sarcastic tone, young lady. I'm far older than what you could imagine. And if you must know, our size is a representation of your knowledge and understanding!'

Calissa gasped, placing her hand on her chest. "Well, I never. Did you seriously just call me stupid?!" Somehow, she had deja vu. Where had she had this kind of conversation before?

'If you want to take it that way, you can,' the voice mocked coolly.

Calissa jumped up from her sitting position, her face contorting in anger. "Where are you?" She growled, hearing the audible change in her voice. "Come out and fight me if you have the guts!" The wind seemed to carry her voice through the forest. For a split second the flow of the river was disturbed. Yeah, that was probably her mind playing tricks on her.

'You still don't get it, do you?'

She could hear the eye roll in that statement. "Get what?"

'Who I am. I'm not just a voice in your head, Calissa.'

"Then who are you?"

"Calissa!"

Her head whipped towards the direction she had heard the voice from. That was certainly not in her head.

"Calissa!" That sounded like her dad.

"Dad?" She called out in response and soon he found her. He must have tracked her using her scent. He looked frantic as he rushed out from the woods to stand in front of her. "What are you doing here?"
