The days felt longer when he left, more so than she thought they'd be. She didn't expect to feel so lonely without Owen, especially since his owl companions had gotten closer in his absence, greeting her in hordes in the evening hours, while the mornings were more scarce for company. Though they didn't talk back, they were still nice to have around as Y/N went about her daily missions, fetching water, fishing, foraging and even attempting to hunt something other than fish, which she found to be quite challenging without the right materials. Once she got her hands on the supplies, she'd be able to make decent traps. In the meantime, she made the most with what she had and survived well enough, though that's not to say she didn't struggle from time to time.

With the sun appearing more in recent days, Y/N ran into the problem of risking sunburn. She kept to the shade provided by the many trees, but it wasn't enough in some areas, leading her to cake parts of her skin in mud as a form of protection whenever she felt it beating down on her. As dusk settled in, she would stop by the stream to wash it all off. Though the water was colder than the spring's, she found it very refreshing. At a point, the mud would dry and feel highly unpleasant. It almost made her miss the dense fog and cloudy skies, but knowing that the clear weather meant that Owen was happy, she couldn't complain.

At the end of a particularly tiring day, Y/N knelt beside the stream and threw water at her dirty face, washing off all the sweat and grime that had accumulated as her companions cooed in the branches above, watching with their large eyes which soon lifted towards the sky as silence fell over them. Curious about their behavior, the human followed their gazes and lit up at the sight of massive wings spread open, casting a shadow above them. With a gasp, she hopped to her feet and followed her feathered friend in the direction he was flying, moving fast in attempts to keep up as the owls chased her from behind. Many of them were able to pass her, but she payed no mind to that, focusing more on where Owen was headed, the cave. Her smile grew as she picked up the pace, now knowing his destination. Past the branches and the bushes, she caught up to him right as he made his landing, dropping down a heavy, brown sack of a decent size.

"You're back!" She shouted causing the Owl King to twist his head and grin as he lifted the mask worn on his face. Before he knew it, her arms were around his feathery waist and her face was up against his chest, giggling. "I've missed you." Scaly talons returned the gesture, squeezing her firmly as Owen nestled the top of her head with his own.

"I've missed you too." Feeling a bit warm in the face, she parted and looked over at the bag as he pointed to it with his claw. "I hope everything I brought will useful to you." Eager to explore his findings, Y/N bent down to untie the thin rope used to keep the sack closed and gasped at the sight of a large pot filled with everything she had asked him for. Y/N had only expected him to run into one or two items, so this was definitely a pleasant surprise, especially when she found an additional item which she plucked out with her fingers. Noting her curiosity, Owen chimed in.
