"The worst way you can
leave someone, is in
silence"
-J.B

We had been walking for a few hours until we got to the next bus stop, we had about 30 minutes before the bus to West Virginia arrived.

We had showered and changed, Annie gave me emerald green eye contacts
and she gave me a hat and letterman.

She had a pair of jeans and a top on with a denim jacket over, her hair had been braided with blonde extensions.

We were sitting out on a bench in the middle of nowhere, I saw a phone booth and looked at Annie.

"Can I call Hayden?" I asked.

"Are you stupid?" She asked taking a bite of a chocolate bar she bought, I frowned and looked down.

"Fine" She sighed.

She stood up and we went to the booth.

"I'll talk first, quick give me a girls name from your school."

"Marine Gavelyn." I quickly said the name off of the top of my head, Marine was a popular girl and I doubt
she would ever call Hayden but he would get excited and take the phone.

I dialed the number quickly and
waited as Annie spoke.

I listened closely. "Hello, Summerall resident's, Tisha speaking."

I heard the familiar voice.

So soothing and calm, filled with
peace and joy.

"Hi Mrs. Summerall, I was wondering if I could speak to Hayden?"

"We have a school project together." Annie spoke modestly.

"Sure thing. May I ask whose calling?"

"Marine Gavelyn" Annie answered I was impatiently waiting for Hayden to take the phone.

I could hear his mom tell him who it was and I could hear him run over, tripping on something as he took the phone.

"H-Hello?" He asked nervous.

"Aww am I making the sweet boy nervous?" Annie asked seductively.

Hayden groaned. "There's the geek
we all know and hate."

"What do you want? Where's Janice?"

Annie couldn't help but laugh.

I ripped the phone right out of her hands as she died of laughter.

"You really had to call me Janice? You
could have said Justin, Jace, Jacob!"

"Hey, Janie." I could hear the smirk in his voice.

"Happy birthday."

"Th-thanks." Annie stopped laughing and looked at me, I turned avoiding her look.

"How's my dad doing?"

'Haven't seen him since I got back, he went looking for you himself." Hayden explained.

"After I got back I told him you were up in San Francisco, It should buy you some time."

"Thanks that means alot to me." I sighed.

I looked at Annie shooing her until she stepped out of the booth.

"You make any friends yet?"

"Yeah, remember Faith?" He began I nodded and hummed.

"Well she was the one who really cared
about me! Everyone cared about you."

A chuckle made its way past my lips.

"Anyways she's real neat and god she's beautiful. I got talking with her friends and now I have other friends besides you."

"See, now do you regret insulting Annie?" I asked smuggly.

He groaned.

"She made you get a girl."

"Yeah Yeah yeah, now tell me about you. How's it been going."

I started to tell him about everything that has happened.

It was great to tell someone, he made
comments about me turning into a bad ass and we joked around.

I had added 5 coins into the phone by
now.

"But hey how's your birthday been?" He asked as I was finished.

"Um good, Thanks for asking." I smirked.

"Hope you have a present for me when I get home."

"You know I will." I could hear the smile in his voice.

"Okay pass me to the criminal drug lord"

Annie took the phone and I walked out of the booth, walking back to the bench.

~Annie's POV~

"It's Johnny's birthday?" Il asked immediately.

'Yeah didn't he tell you?" Hayden asked.

"Oh wait probably not, since you're so busy trying to seduce him into the dark side. Anyways what are you?"

"What are you talking about?" I asked confused.

"Vampire? Werewolf? Elf? Wizard?" He listed.

"I mean he thinks you're the hottest girl out there."

'Cuz thats what I am." I answered.

"Anyways I know you didn't want to talk to me about that, so what do you want?"

"I want you to do me a favor." He replied.

"And why would I do you a favor?" I asked looking at Johnny.

"You hate me and I hate you, its our thing."

"Yeah but l'm friends with Johnny, and ever since I have known him we had chocolate cake with ice cream and went to a movie."

Hayden began to explain quickly and frusterated. He then let out a sigh.

"Look its a tradition, I know he loves it cause his mom used to take us. Can you please just do it? If not for me than for
John?"

I bit my lip nervously. "Yeah, fine. Is that all?"

"Yeah and...Thanks for letting him call me, it means alot to me." He said.

"No problem. Soft shit."' I answered, hearing him lightly chuckle on the other end.

"lf you hear from his dad, tell him Johnny's okay. Tell him I called you and
let you speak to him."

"Don't worry, I will. Bye."

"Bye." I hung up the phone
Johnny was sitting on the bench.

I slipped in next to him.

"Happy birthday."

"Thanks Annie." He smiled lightly.

"I turn 17 today, so how old are you?"

"16" I smiled at him.

"Oh look here comes the bus, lets go we still have long ways to go."

I grabbed his hand and we got on the bus.
