"What is that?" You say, grabbing the ball from Sero and squinting at his chicken scratch. You handed it back to him and he tossed it in the air a few times.
"Yeah, I don't know man.." Shinso added.
"Yeah, it's pretty crappy." Tsuburaba said, picking his nose.
"He ain't gonna buy that, Sero. It doesn't look anything All Might's signature." Kaminari shook his head, side eyeing the guys.
"It doesn't matter what it looks like, his mom won't know the difference." He replied, handing the ball to Midoriya. "This'll buy us some time, ya dorks." Sero rolled his eyes, taking a step back to your side.
"Okay then, Izuku and I will go back home and place the phony and meet you guys back here, kay?" You said before Kirishima shook his head. "Meet us back at my house, we got a little bit of planning to do, so be quick about it, yeah?" Kirishima beamed, making you feel warm at the fact they were already coming up with ideas to save your hides. You sucked in a deep breath to hold back the tears brimming in your eyes as you nodded in confidence. Tapping Midoriya on the shoulder, you both took off back to his house to set up the decoy.

After Inko's long speech about the story behind your dad's generational baseball, you and Midoriya's spirits were at an all time low. The feeling of guilt was starting to settle in once more, making you both feel even worse than you already did. "I hope we can get dad's ball back.. We have to." You said, picking with the hem of your shirt. "Don't worry, N/n. We're going to get that ball back no matter what." Midoriya replied with this determined look in his eyes. "Yeah, you're right. Let's hurry to Kiri's." You said quickly, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the redhead's residency.
"I don't know man, that sounds so dumb- Hey! You're here!" Sero shouted, waving the two of you over to the circle he and the gang were gathered in. Paper was scattered across the grass as the boys argued over plans. "So.. How do we get it back?" Midoriya spoke up, gaining the gang's attention. "I have no idea." Kaminari replied, shaking his head.
"Can't we just hop the fence?" Midoriya asked, feeling desperate and anxious. Bakugo scoffed, crossing his arms. "Didn't you hear about that girl? Tsuyu Asui." He stated as Tetsutetsu clenched his fist, tears in his eyes. "Poor Froppy.." Midoriya blinked in surprise, forgetting about aforementioned girl because he's so caught up with the current situation, making him sigh sadly. "Hey! I got an idea." You pitched, gaining the attention of all the eyes of the room. "Why don't we just go over, knock on the door, and ask Mr. Aizawa to get it for us?" You asked, crossing your arms and tilting your head in confusion.
The boys turn to look at you as if you've grown two heads, dumbfounded looks etched across their faces. Kaminari slaps his forehead, dragging his hand down his face for extra measure. "Are you out of your mind?! Mr. Aizawa is the meanest old man that ever lived! He's the one that sicked The Beast on Froppy!" He shouted, shaking you rapidly by your shoulders.
"It's not an option, Y/n. Forget about it!" Kaminari stated as he let you go. You frowned, crossing your arms as you mumbled something along the lines of 'I was just trying to help..' under your breath. Sero gave you a consoled look, placing his arm around your shoulders and squeezing you close to him. "Let's go look out the window, okay?" He grinned a closed eye smile, making your face lightly burn as you wordlessly nodded.
He gestured to the ladder, letting you go up first. He looked down at his PF Flyers with his hands on his hips, not wanting to come out as a creep for watching you go up into the treehouse.
He respected you so much. He wouldn't dare look at you like that. You're not even his girlfriend yet for crying out loud. "Yet, huh?" Sero mumbled, smiling hard at the thought of you potentially being his future girlfriend.
Oh, the way you had him wrapped around your finger.
"Sero? Seroooo? You comin'?" You tilted your head, looking over the side as the sweet tone of your voice broke him out of his thoughts. "Oh, yeah.." He blinked, scrambling up the ladder. You poked him on the head, as you gestured for him to grab your hand and you pulled him up. "Let's go, slowpoke." You chuckled, leading him in while still holding his hand.
The boys were still gathered around the window, discussing what to do next, too busy to notice you smile as you lightly swung Sero's hand that was still attached to yours. "He's darin' us.." Kirishima and Tetsutetsu said in sync.
"He's waiting for us. Just like he did with Froppy..." Shinso added.
Numerous 'Poor Froppy..' Sounded off from the boys. "Well yeah, we're in his territory now." Bakugo sneered, back leaned up against the wall near the window. "Do you think he's pissed?" Todoroki asked nonchalantly, making Sero raise an eyebrow at the two-toned boy. "Is Present Mic a dork? Anybody got any bright ideas?" He groaned, rubbing his temples with his right hand and still holding yours with his left.
The gazes of the boys shifted downwards, locking onto your intertwined hands. You both quickly let go, forgetting that you had been doing the action for so long. Not that either of you minded. "Sorry, N/n. It looks like I forgot to give you your hand back after you let me borrow it earlier." Sero sheepishly apologized, rubbing the nape of his neck.
"Don't worry about it! There's nothing wrong with friends holding hands!" You quickly defended, playing with the hem of your shirt.
"So you'd hold my hand if I asked you too??" Tsuburaba chimed in, bouncing his way over to the spot next to you.
"Wait-"
"Yeah, what if I needed to borrow your hand too?" Todoroki added.
"Yeah, but-"
"Whoa! Don't go back on your word now, Shortstack!" Bakugo laughed, enjoying the commotion.
"HEY, STOP IT!" Sero yelled, as he silenced the whole room. "Leave Y/n alone. We're supposed to be helping her, not harassing her over something so stupid! We got work to do." He snapped, making the boys straighten up.
"A-Actually, I think we got a few things we could try! Let's go men." Kaminari stuttered, as the team filed out of the treehouse quicker than ever. Leaving only you and Sero behind.
He breathed out a sigh of relief before he started speaking again. "Hey, I'm so sorry, N/n. I know how they can be sometimes and- Y/n..? Are you okay?" Sero turned to you, gently taking your hands in his again as he inspected your growing flushed face. "Mhm, yeah..." You replied in a dazed tone.
"I really appreciate you standing up for me like that. It meant a lot to me." You smiled, squeezing his hands. "I promised to protect you, didn't I?" He mumbled. "What? You didn't believe me?" He grinned as he scratched his cheek, a small blush forming on his face now too.
"Did you want to- I don't know.. Did you wanna go o-" You started, "Whoa! You guys gotta see this!" Midoriya accidentally interrupted, making you and Sero quickly rush over to the railings of the treehouse.
Bakugo held a very unusable broom, the stick part snapped to bits and pieces. "Volts for brains thought it would be a geeeenius idea to use a broom to drag the ball back to this side of the fence." He exasperated, throwing the broom to the ground. "Mom's gonna kill us.." Tetsutetsu cried out, falling to his knees.
Sero shakes his head turning back to you, "What were you saying??" He asked, turning back to you, but you just smiled and shook your head, "I'll tell you later, okay?" He nodded slowly, the heat rising to his ears thinking about getting to hear your soft, sleepy voice before bed.
"You ready? It's gonna be a looooong day, Captain." You sighed, softly elbowing the boy.
"Ready when you are, Princess." He laughed, making his way down the ladder.
