Covens pov
"Told all my girls I wanna go back last
time that you lost me
This shit is sweet, won politic, we just
won controversy
I love it when you lie, you lie"

'DON'T DISAPOint me'
I stare at the last message my father sent me. It was right before my most recent basketball game. We won that game, 185 -29. I expected a well done, good job, but got nothing instead. My father is a reporter for ESPN, so best believe he has seen some of the best in action, so his expectations are quite high for me. The pressure he puts on me is unbearable sometimes, it's like one day I'll just explode. "It is so full today." Valentina said as we entered the barber shop. Black River Barbershop. Almost a perfect five stars for a reason. Their haircuts are clean and they do it quick, been going here for years.
"You're right, and I did not even set an appointment." I normally do not book appointments. The shop is never full around this time so there is always a seat open, must be an unlucky day for me then. "Coven!" A familiar voice calls from in front of me. My go to barber, Kaden. He always gets my haircuts exactly how I like it, so there is no reason to change barbers. I went to another barber back in Miami once and my hairline got pushed 2 whole centimeters back. It grew back but never again.
"Kaden, long time no see!" I voice, pulling him into a short hug. It has only been 2 weeks but it feels long to us. "For real man." he chuckles. "It's so busy today, want me to come another day?" I came here for a haircut, not to wait and look at other people get a haircut and then get a haircut. "Nah, don't worry. I can get you seated right now." I look around confused, all the chairs were taken.
"Yo, Jayden let me do his haircut real quick then I'll get back to you." He says to the person who was seated in the chair in front of him. "You don't have to do all that, I can wait." I suggest. If I was in his situation I would be pissed, so I'll be the bigger person here. "Yeah he can wait." Jayden said with an attitude behind his tone. "Nah, Covens haircut is going to be quick, you're the one that can wait." he laughs. I stare at the situation, not knowing what to say. Jayden stands, he faces me, his face close to mine. He was only about two centimeters shorter than me, with rich brown skin and fatal eyes. He looks me up and down before scoffing. "you need a haircut anyway." he scorns. "Do you know who you are talking to, I'll beat your ass right now." I am not taking any disrespect, especially to some stranger I was just trying to be nice to. "Guys chill." Kaden separates the two of us. He pushes me with his shoulder before exiting the shop.
