A humid climate, which immediately enveloped her as she entered the room, made Rhaella think that her mother was probably taking a bath again. «The only thing that makes my life a little easier in these times,»she often said.

Thankfully Rhaella had changed before visiting her mother. This temperature would've been way too hot for her training clothes.

Rhaella loved the colour blue, even though it wasn't a specific Targaryen colour, she wore it quite often

The princess walked across the room, right towards the large bathtub, and as expected, she found her mother in it.

«My child,»Queen Aemma spoke as she straightened up a bit.
«Mother. You do not look well. Are the maesters taking proper care of you?»
«Charming, Rhaella. And I have never really trusted them, from that point of view.»

Rhaella had to grin. Such little slips didn't happen to her often, but not little either. That's just the way she was, and the queen knew that very well. The queen just let herself sink back again, because the upright position seemed to strain her.

Rhaella never wanted to give birth to children, let alone marry. She enjoyed her freedom and did not want to give it away under any circumstances. Being pregnant would only make her a bigger and immobile target. She did not like to be powerless , let alone completely immobile.

«How are you mother»?
«Don't worry Rhaella. I'm fine».
«I know you mother. I see you suffering and I can't watch it anymore»!
«It is my duty. This is how I serve the kingdom. This will always be our duty, it was the duty of our ancestors, It is mine and it will also be yours. It is the order of things».
«When I grow older, I will create a new order».

The queen laughed and just looked at her daughter pitifully.
«Oh I really wish that would happen, but I think I will die rather than see that happen».
Rhaella looked down at the ground. Her mother was right, she was a princess, but she was a woman. Women had no power. She would never change anything.

«My darling. Look at me. This doesn't mean you have to live a life of sorrow. Once you give birth, you will love nothing as much as your children and also the act of nurturing them. Especially your first child».
The princess smiled. She didn't want to admit in front of her mother how absurd it was that the queen of all people was saying such things.

«But don't tell Rhaenyra what I said, or you won't see a sibling again, I'm afraid».
«Of course mother».
So they sat there. Laughing. Two women of House Targaryen, unknowingly sharing the same fate.
Forced to produce heirs and a lifetime to mourn the dead.
