The Avengers

School was the usual. CT bullied me, lunch was terrible, and Jordan spoke to me twice. Once about the movie, and another one for help on homework. Yes, I was labeled as one of the "smart kids", but I didn't like it. I helped people out, yes, but I hated everyone asking for help. Evie and Cam were geniuses and that's why we had most classes together.

Finally, the day had ended. Jordan was riding to the movies with me, and my mom was dropping us off.

"Hi Jordan honey. How are you? How's your family?"
"I'm good Mrs. Stucky. My parents are good, they told me to say hi to you and Bananas is the exact same."

Bananas was Jordan's little brother. He was in 5th grade and the two never really got along. He was nicknamed Bananas but no one knows why, it just stuck. It might have been because he was crazy or just because he liked bananas.

"That's good. And how was school?"
"Eh, the usual," I replied, butting in before Jordan could answer. I didn't need my mom to know I was being bullied, but Jordan knew it bothered me. He gave me and confused stare and I silently told him not to mention a thing.

I could fend for myself, I did it daily against CT and my sisters.

"So I'm going to go pick up Cooke, Cara, and Maria from school before we head to the theaters." My mom explained as we drove toward Foxenburg Elementary.

"Mom, are you sure the movie is appropriate? I heard it is quite violent."
"They will be fine, and Mrs. Heather said it was ok."

Mrs. Heather was Cooke's mom and was mayor of our small town. She was a kind lady, but didn't really care what her daughter did, so we took care of Cooke most of the time. The girls hopped in the car and we drove towards the theater.

"Thank you Mrs. Stucky!" Jordan yelled to my mom.
"No problem Jordan!"

We walked in the theater and I paused to watch my mom, her blonde hair tied back in a ponytail, drive away in our big, grey van. The theater was the only one in town. It was usually crowded but today, since it was a Wednesday, the place was like a ghost town. We bought our tickets and headed to the concessions. I stepped back to look at the menu. Trying to be discreet, I stole a glance at Jordan.

He looked perfect as usual, his dark brown hair in its usual messy form and his t-shirt and pants were the ones he always wore, white with a grey collar and red jeans. They suited him though. (See Picture)

Cara, Maria, and Cooke were struggling to hold all their food, so Jordan and I assisted them into the theater. I told them to sit far away from us and when they started to complain, I gave up and let them sit next to us.from left to right it was Jordan, me, Cara, Cooke, and Maria. The ads were the same as always; Ant-Man, Inside Out, and Pixels. The opening music started suddenly and I jumped slightly in my seat, not expecting the music to start so loudly. I gripped the armrest and Jordan put his hand over me. And yes, just the plan of his hand. I forgot to mention it didn't I? Jordan lost most of his hand when he was born. He always made up stories about how a shark but it or it got burnt off in a fire. I find it hilarious to see people's reactions after he tells them that, especially Marlons. He got so wide-eyed and his mouth hung open. And the when Jordan told it was a joke, Marlon almost slapped him silly.

We stayed like that through the whole movie, pausing only when Maria had to go to the bathroom because I had to be her escort. She had a giant coke and couldn't keep it in til the end. I got back in the middle of a giant battle between.... (I won't spoil anything). I got back to my seat and stayed there til the very end. I couldn't wait til the next one. Maybe by then Jordan and I would be together. I told the girls to go play in front of the screen while Jordan and I went to the back.

"Listen, I have something to tell you....." I began, starting to sweat.
"Yeah, me too" he responded.

I definitely wasn't expecting him to tell me anything.

"You go first" I said, wanting to make sure this wasn't a whole speech on how we only went to the movies as friends.

"You remember when we met in 5th grade?" he began.
"Like it was yeste- yeah" I caught myself, not trying to sound weird and dreamy.
"Well, ever since then , I always thought you were like the alpha female, never needing any man to help you or hold you back. I always imagined if we were together, I would stop you from thriving. But yesterday it clicked."
"What did?" I asked, hoping this was going where I thought it was.
"You have always like me, not Marlon. You invited me to the movies, when you have Marlon's number, when I gave you the advice that you were doing to me. I have always liked you, so... Will you, Laurel Stucky, go out with me, Jordan Wiseley?

"YES!" Was all I could answer.
